I just watched that clip. I never watch Daybreak.
First thing I noticed, welcome back GMTV!
Secondly, every presenter is wobbling about like jelly. The way Dan is feeling up his own thighs at the start is weird.
And all this "Thanks, Dan, Thanks, Steve". Blimey, it's really awful. Such a shame.

The ratings are moving in the right direction, the last couple of days have averaged 900,000 so creeping ever closer to the magic 1m. Without getting too carried away, I do think Dan & Christine and Adrian & Grainne are better pairings than Adrian & Christine. If Adrian stays with Daybreak, moving to a Monday-Wednesday, Thursday-Friday split with the two pairs could help.

what Daybreak needs is Eamonn Holmes and Fiona Philips Monday to Wednesday and Dan and Christine / Kate / Grainne Thursday and Friday.

Could Weekend Daybreak ever become a reality I'm sure I saw something on it a while back, cant seem to find it now

*snip - PM this matter instead.*

That Granola woman is really irritating me, quite wooden. Meanwhile, I spy the view (obviously) getting an outing earlier and earlier, and it makes the studio look so much more impressive. While the current winter system is okay, why not use the other side of the set during the winter and minimise the amount of yellow on screen as it can be quite horrid at some times during the morning.

When they've got more natural sunlight coming in during the summer months, it would look far better if they removed the wooden wall that they put up around October. When there was a lot of daylight during September, it looked very impressive.

I agree about the yellow, even if they just use the clock wall and have presenters and guests on the same sofa. GMTV managed it, no reason why Daybreak can't!

Aren't the Daybreak sofas smaller? Also wouldn't they have to use a hand held camera or jib for the sme sofa so they could get the right views

How did Daybreak handle this mornings earthquake - I would guess it's the first big rolling story to break as they went to air.

They just treated it as the top story on the news bulletins, with the odd reference from Adrian & Christine. It had a good balance, enough coverage to know what has gone on, but not acting like its a national emergency like the BBC currently are.

But fast forward to Lorraine and you had Dan Wootton and Kate Garraway staring solemnly into the camera at the shocking news that Charlie Sheen's house had been raided.

They handled the earthquake very poorly to be honest. The balance was terrible. It was given no more mention than any other top story on any other day. I was astounded by how little they did it on really given how powerful the live images from Japan were (as shown on Breakfast and Sunrise). Too many regular items stayed in place and it just seemed editorially odd to have a cystic fibrosis story as the main item after 0800.

Just like when the Chilean Miners were released, Daybreak completely failed to go with a massive breaking news story. Daybreak keeps making gradual progress, and then completely cocking it up.

The BBC covered it on Breakfast well - and they didn't treat it like a National Emergency, they treated it like a devastating natural disaster, where coverage was needed. It's a story with worldwide importance, and in fact something that has changed the lives of many forever. The fact that Daybreak lead with it in news bulletins and didn't mention it in Lorraine is awful, and really shows that their priorities aren't set on news, but in the celebrity gossip and a story of how a women from Plymouth dislikes pie.

Well Richard Gaisford & Cordelia Kretzschmar are both going to Japan so lets hope Monday's coverage is better. The thing I dislike is how all the news is in the news bulletin, and Adrian and Christine just have the dross to cover. When Daybreak launched, A+C read out the top story and then went to Tasmin for the news at about 6:05, which worked a lot better IMO.

It's the fact they continued to broadcast items about car jargon, and other stuff like that. For someone who had just tuned in for a few minutes, you would have no idea.

Daybreak covered it a lot better IMO.
