I agree, she was good today, maybe they are getting ready for changes when they move to Salford, Im not keen on Ranvir and I don't think it will be long before Gordan reduces the amount time he is on screen
Good to see the BBC letting Diane Oxberry present the 1.30 North West Today, she should be used more often.

I don't think there are changes in the pipeline, she pretty much explained that Gordon was off today interviewing Danny Boyle and Tony and Ranvir would be on at 6.30, and with Tony's commitments I couldn't see him present the 1.30, as for Ranvir she usually doesn't present the 1.30, even when Gordon's off.
Even though Gordon is about 67 now I think there's a good chance he'll still be fronting NWT after the move to Salford Quays, even if it's just for a year or two.

I think the point is in the whole time Diane has been with North West Tonight (are we talking 13/14 years? Can't remember exactly), she's never filled in as a presenter - there's always someone else who could do it. Perhaps they're thinking more along the lines of Ranvir's ambitions. She won't be staying at North West Tonight for too long after the Salford move in my opinion - she'll have her eye on national projects.

I agree with everything you are saying, Diane seems to be doing more and more recently, other than the weather, that is.

NWT used the newer, higher-pitched music used in some of the other regions (Midlands?) tonight. Am sure they didn't last time I watched.

They used it for the special titles in last night's programme and it seems they've continued using the special titles but with images of the region rather than soldiers. I think therefore it's only temporary let's hope. Can't stand that music.
The special titles are good though,

BBC North West's Colin Sykes throws bread into in a pig's face. It was shown during the 'Today' edition, and then they had to apologise in the evening! It was rather a good shot, if accidental

We can see if they do it again tonight.
I noticed a different style headline sequence on NWT tonight. There was a few seconds of the national bed whilst Gordon and Ranvir introduced them followed by the headlines with the regions bed. Is this a new thing starting this week or was it just tonight?
