Just watched Thursday's episode on Virgin TV's 'catch up' service and there are some clean credit sequences and backgrounds included at the end.. and clean music. Let the programme finish and wait a couple of minutes. I'm watching them now but cannot capture.

Jim's coming back, so he is!

Although it might just be in order to kill him off ? Shocked

I hope not. He's a useful random element who can be used to spice up any number of characters' storylines on a temporary basis.

Well somebody needs to tell Steven he's a big man and Luzzabith to catch herself on, do you get the craic?

Often amuses me as it seems "oh nurr Jim!" usually only returns when Liz needs a random night of passion, so she does!

Yeah someone posted a page or two back that it's the same for ITV Player online.

There's an interview with one of the five actors performing in the forthcoming "Corrie!" play, Katherine Dow Blyton. I have to say that I'm looking forward to seeing this when it opens on August 12, and as it's written by Jonathan Harvey, it's bound to be excellent - I guess some other TVF members will be attending too? It'll certainly be interesting to see how they pull it all off - over 2,000 storylines condensed into two hours. Not to mention the cast of five playing 50 years worth of characters: the above actor is playing 11 of them including Deirdre, Hilda, Ena, Karen, Audrey and Shelley! And noteworthy, with all this talk of Jim McDonald, that Charles Lawson himself will be the narrator of the play, so he will. (Sorry, just had to sneak that in.)

As I'm sure many here will be aware, there's been a couple of rather dramatic "leaks" posted in tabloids over the last few weeks, the latest of which is a News of the World 'exclusive' about Jack Duckworth's exit. I presume this article is part of the "deliberate leaking" of fake stories to tabloid papers, as Phil Collinson mentioned during his This Morning appearance. I just can't see somebody as loved as Jack being allowed to leave the programme this way - or under the viaduct tram wreckage, for that matter. I reckon it'll be a traditional, sad farewell as befits past departures of loved Corrie characters - in the back of a cab, etc...

I thought that too, but it certainly didn't seem like he ran further down the alley, just into the next yard (No. 3). I'll just have to accept that Lloyd moves at the speed of light... Smile

According to a few papers quoting The People is saying that Corrie will have a Live episode during the 50th Anniversary week.

Heres the article from The People. Make of it what you think.

Quote:
CORRIE’S sensational 50th anniversary “bloodbath” tram crash storyline will include a LIVE episode, The People can reveal.

Bosses want the show depicting the carnage seconds after the tram plummets off a viaduct to be the soap’s most dramatic and memorable ever.

Scenes will show popular Street characters lying dead or fighting for their lives amid utter devastation.

An insider said: “The cast were told about the live episode at an on-set meeting on Monday. Producer Phil Collinson told them it was going to be the biggest TV achievement ever. And he made it crystal clear he wanted no mistakes. He said no one had ever attempted anything as daring as this before. Actors were given the choice to opt out, but got the feeling that to do so would create an extremely bad impression.

“And with all the uncertainty about who is being killed off, the pressure is on. No one wants to bail out of the live episode when their jobs might be at stake.”

The People told last week how Corrie legend Bill Tarmey – lovable layabout Jack Duckworth – is the first big name to emerge as a victim of the tram crashing off the viaduct over the cobbled street.

The crash will also claim a host of Street favourites with boss Collinson – dubbed CULLinson – telling stars: “None of you are safe.” The plotline will be played out over a week-long series of episodes in early December, culminating in the live 50th birthday show on December 9.

Collinson, 42, is going for maximum drama. Bosses want to bring in real police, fire and ambulance staff and vehicles for authenticity. Our source said: “There’s a real buzz around the live episode.

“Everyone wants things to go off without a single cock-up – no messed-up line or moving dead body.”

Coronation Street had a live ITV episode on December 8, 2000, as part of the show’s 40th anniversary.

Rival soap EastEnders went live for its 25th birthday earlier this year, pulling in more than 16million viewers.

I thought Lloyd missed a trick by not going down the back alley when Russ disappeared, just looking in that direction instead and running elsewhere. He went down the back alley (ahem...) later in the episode but why on earth were Claire and the two boys in the backyard of No. 3? It certainly looked that way: he kicked open the backyard door to No. 1 and then moved to the next one, No. 3, where the two boys were. I thought it weird that two random youngsters were inhabiting Emily Bishop's yard... and then Claire appeared.

Is this a genuine slack continuity error or did he choose to skip the backyards of Numbers 3 and 5 and head straight to No. 7's?

Clare has looked after Russ before and he's probably friends with Josh and Asha so it makes sense to look there, also he probably heard the children playing

Where is there any jolity in this forthcoming 50 years anniversary? All I've heard in breaking storylines around this event is nothing but gloom! I know there has to be balance but we do seem to be heading towards more cloud than brightness!

Sorry if this has been mentioned earlier in the thread, but I was surprised not to see quite a bit of talk about it: are they using the "full" version of the new closing music for omnibuses? I caught the end of the omnibus about two Sundays ago, and the closing credits were accompanied by a "full" version of the theme tune (including the final few bars that are cut out of the weekday episodes) and the version itself used was slower than the "regular" new theme, but was definitely a new rendition of it. Has anyone else heard it or was this a one off for that specific omnibus?

Yes - I haven't managed to watch any of the omnibus editions since the new music and titles were introduced and I raised the question a couple of pages back. The new end theme sounds quite out of place on the weekday episodes and I assumed that they had simply not bothered to record the full version (or had recorded it and deemed it unacceptable to broadcast, as per the unused "End of Part One" music), so I'm glad to hear that a longer version does exist. (By the way - yes, I believe using a longer theme for the omnibuses is a permanent arrangement due to the larger amount of credits.)

The original music is far better of course! Smile

I think they could have just digitally enhanced the original theme
