How is it now used any differently to the above picture?

They don't seem to use any exciting camera angles any more, they've got rid of the little podium and the little walk that the sport presenters used to do, they're not using the screens to their full potential either.

The studio can look so good, as in the photo above. However they just seem to let it tick over, dull as ever.

They never used exciting camera angles. Has the podium gone? I thought I saw it the other day. There was no point to that little walk. They have never used the screens to their full potential. That picture you showed above is exactly the same as the TOTH I saw at 11am today apart from the red strap at the top.

I just don't personally think that what is actually quite a nice studio is used to its full potential, whereas straight after the rebrand, they used some nice camera work, little things like good use of the screens etc. which meant that this forum was flooded with comments about how 'amazing' it looked. Now it just looks stagnant and bland. I hope they go down the Sky route after the move to BH; a flexible studio with lots of presentation areas.

As far as I remember, the general consensus around here when News 24 moved to N6 was disappointment. That was certainly my impression, maybe I'm remembering this wrong. IMO the previous incarnation of the N6 Barco set was far nicer.

It was indeed mainly dissapointment around here when it moved. I personally still find the News Channel studio a little boring, feels very confined. I hope when they move to BH they have a much more welcoming presentation area.

Oops they started to put the wrong edition of 'The Politics Show' on just, the Nick Clegg one, not Cam the Sham.

They've fixed it now.

How did they fix it? Did the presenters come back and fill or did they just stop the wrong edition and play the correct edition without saying anything?

The 9pm TOTH came in a little early at 20:59 too.

Faded down audio, cut to studio, apology, roll correct edition.

TOTH was strange wasn't it? No weather either.

I guess it had something to with a change of programme.

(Politics Show should have been 830, but when I flicked on, it was 'The Bottom Line' instead. Presumbly the Obama breaking news had something to do with it?)

Yep, and the 'Breaking News' sound effect has gone too.

They stopped the Breaking News effect in the relaunch - therefore isn't something that's stopped since that picture, as per the other comments. The studio is far too dark at the moment - whatever technical people on here say about N8 and N9 having poor lighting and lack of a 'studio' the general lighting to ordinary viewers is, in my opinion, far greater.

They did use the sound effect for the first couple of days. I have some recordings with it on.

Also, I remember when the presenter was talking to a guest on location and they'd talk to the guest on the Barco screens - they were in a box - rather than the use of half the wall - looked a lot tidier.

Got another one here Smile

Nina Ridge can't get her weather graphics to work! (BBC News, 29.3.10)
The panic in her voice at the start... Very Happy

And it's a shame they cut to a trailer (for Canoe Man) at the end as she looked in a panic to have a go at someone or something.

One thing I have never understood when things like this happen is, the presenter knows there on as they can see themselves in the plasma behind the camera so why do they sometimes stand there looking like there not sure if they are on. I thought training for all presenters was if you think you're live, treat it as if you are.

I wonder if she knew she was on but didn't know what to say as the autocue hadn't moved on to whatever she was meant to say after the report or maybe she knew she was in vision but she could still hear the audio from the report so didn't know if her microphone was live or not.
