They are definatly having a new set fitted and are currntly using their backup/spare studio not the main one. It's been rumored they may be getting full on barco setup as the studio is big enough to accomodate it, but that might be an over egging on my sources part.

Still goood to see it happening, some parts of the set are over 10 years old. It will also be interesting to see if they go for remote camera setup again, they had/have it but choose to operate manually.

Think its obvious what is coming....but will be interesting to see BBC South's spin on it!

Oh I know its obv the 3 wall fake newsroom setup, but from what was described "massive videowall" it could be the only region to get propper bacros rather than projector affair?

Perhaps they're taking possession of the reconditioned ones from network/news channel.

Isn't South the region who made off with Liquid New's old set?

It definitely wasn't the South West.

I thought BBC West (Bristol) had inherited the 'Liquid News' set.

Yes that's what I had in mind, ta Rob.

In any event, the point I was making was that its not unknown for such large and expensive set pieces to be gifted to the regions - and so perhaps that's why South are getting hold of some barco cubes.

Pure speculation, obviously.

Whoops I knew it was points West and yet I went all ITV with the regions.

I think Gavin might be onto something, would be interesting to see how South Today's set turns out and more interesting to see how they use it, South Today dropped the straight forward desk presentation a long time ago for more varied shots and angles.

I just caught the end of BBC South Today...Reham Khan is rather nice is'nt she ?

Funny blooper moment when she walked accross the set...does she present that often ?

At the end of tonight's main show, Sally mentioned that viewers may have noticed a few differences and that this was due to "having the decorators in". She then said that all will be revealed in a few weeks!

Must be a pretty major change to take so long. Perhaps they will go back to remote camera control with rehearsals?

High time too, that set has had 2 licks of paint and 2 desks since it's installation in 1999.
