I'd love to see Glen Thomsett returning to Meridian......we used to listen to im years ago on Invict Radio in Kent then followed him over to TVS then Meridian. He, along with Ian McBride, Ian MacLaren, David Glencorse and the others all felt like part of the family. As much as I like Fred, surely it's time for him to move along to retirement. I guess no matter how much support is given on this website, little notice is taken by those that matter......."DA MANAGEMENT"

South Today has been in the Oxford studio all weekend... is a new set (finally) in the offing?

The new set is up today. Breakfast looked cramped with the weather now coming from the right side of the sushi bar next to the presenter.

According to @BBCSouthWeather on Twitter, the sofa area has been scrapped, with the light hearted chat with the weather presenter and Roger moved to the bar.

Please say you are joking. That's the new set? Oh dear god...

Erm fairly obviously that's not a new set. Looks to me like they've moved the old/current set into the smaller studio in Southampton and are using that. That god-awful weather presenter even revealed the CSO is no full size when she stuck her hand too far across the map.

Would be interesting to see what happens to Late Kick-Off tonight?

Have they moved it into a smaller studio whilst they put a new set in the bigger one? Or is this permanent to save money?

The person on the Twitter feed did say they were getting a new sofa after all.

They are definatly having a new set fitted and are currntly using their backup/spare studio not the main one. It's been rumored they may be getting full on barco setup as the studio is big enough to accomodate it, but that might be an over egging on my sources part.

Still goood to see it happening, some parts of the set are over 10 years old. It will also be interesting to see if they go for remote camera setup again, they had/have it but choose to operate manually.
