Television News Theme Music - Creative Uses!

I think the current STV News theme tune is the best around at the moment. Authoratitive and fast paced, which is more than can be said for ITV and BBC News which is getting rather old and boring for me.

A personal fav has to be the BBC Spoltight theme before they took the standard BBC News look

I know I've mentioned my fondness for this on a number of occasions, but the original North East Tonight theme is just fantastic. I loved as well how there were numerous variations over the years too.

Also a fan of this TV Forum favourite from Central News in 1998.

The Newsnight theme is also a favourite of mine. I particularly liked the different versions they used over the end credits for a while a couple of years ago. Don't suppose anyone's got copies of these?

I don't know if this will help, but here is the current closing theme which was introduced in 2006, IIRC.

What makes the Newsnight theme especially wonderful is the way it's used in the well-produced intro sequences. Of course, it's also a brilliant theme in its own right.

WSVN Miami - yes, I know! But, whatever you think about the station, the whole package is just phenomenal - and the tune in't bad either. The version used since they've gone HD is rubbish.

Countdown with Keith Olbermann - probably one of my least favourite, but it's going on the list because I love the visuals and it ends nicely. Clicky
