Yes but since 28/10/02 all the regions regardless of whether they are owned by Carlton or GMG have had simular idents with the celebs etc, and with the merger imminent I would have thought they would introduce the same sort of regional idents.

No a regional ITV1 celeb ident, like you used to.

And I dont know what GMG regions have as I dont have Sky so can only watch my local region HTV Wales, and HTV West and Carlton-Westcountry.
ditch the current idents all togeher, i say. infact rebrand the channel ditch the pointless squares!!
the regions are losing there unique identiy.
i think they should have the chance to regain there identity!!!
at least these idents are giving the regions some hope of a identity of sorts!!
But not always.........even if the program is just on ONE region and not 2 GMG regions, we sometimes still get an ITV1 ident.
Although this week before every regional programme that I've seen on Yorkshire they've used a regional ident, There was even an ITV1 Yorkshire branded ident before 'Great Escapes' last night

For the regional programmes late in the day this week I have seen the same Philip Schofield ident twice, the one which has ITV1 Granada on the left. But bizzarely enough one was before a repeat of Men in Tights at the time of 12.50am.
It would be nice to have these box idents on GMG Regions, though unlike Carlton's we still have the our regions name, Granada must think that it is enough for now, while Carlton have probably had an arse kicking telling themselves that they won't exsist for much longer.
I think these new idents are a massive step in the right direction. Let's face it, in this day and age it's the nearest we're going to get to regional presentation on ITV1.
These new idents would be brilliant with some music and the ITV1 sign animated. Has anyone seen London's yet? I have some ideas they could use to really show the reigon as it is.
1) Pan back from the blocks to show someone being mugged outside Brixton tube station.
2) The Blocks on a tower block stairwell with junkie's sitting on them shooting up.
3) Blocks being shot at by drive-by Yardies.
4) Blocks being graffittied, vandalised, used as a public urianal, and being stolen.
Ha ha ha!!!!
So if the GMG regions decide to take up these regional idents, what will it say under their ITV1 logo??? :-
ITV1 for Granada??????
ITV1 for the Granada region??????
ITV1 for Yorkshire? <-----seems plausible
ITV1 for the Borders?<-----seems slightly plausible
ITV1 for Channel 3 North East???<-----the return of Channel 3 North East!
