I’ll really miss this place. I generally avoided heated arguments on this forum but one really fun memory was a fun spat I had with @VMPhil about Konnie Huq’s presenting abilities on Xtra Factor exactly 10 years ago to the day. Fun times. Best wishes to one and all!

Here is a link to the thread from a younger more petulant self: https://www.tvforum.co.uk/tvhome/x-factor-2011-32026

Thank you @Bail for putting some manners on me.

Haha. I cringe a bit reading that now because I don't think I come out of it too well either, but I stand by my opinion that she wasn't suited to The Xtra Factor Smile

Is it all going to kick off again?
I think over the years we have all done things we regret, and that includes posting something on a internet forum.
As you get older it's easier to sit back and think - how will this sound when there is no other context other than the words I've typed?

I'm sorry to see TV Forum is closing! I was here as a teenager during its heyday back in the early 2000s. I have lots of fond memories of this place!

Huge thanks to Asa! And I apologise for being such a pain back then! I still remember the day you appeared on Liquid News talking about BBC Two's new idents - the whole forum went wild!

Some other memories:

Jaron Brass - An apparently hunky American who ran his own corporation. Turned out he was far from a hunk and didn't run a corporation
Neon Radio - I'm not sure the station ever existed except as a TV Forum meme?
William Hanson - Founded a news channel from his bedroom. He now appears on TV and in newspapers as an etiquette expert.
mdta - His endless supply of top-notch mock designs and TV Forum's very own 'Numa Numa' guy.
Nick Harvey - His Carbuncle Corner blog was always a fun read. Is Nick still around?
Max - Lived in the middle of nowhere and whose father ran a celebrity porn site called 'Robb's Celebs'
Simon Luxton - Was always a lovely guy to talk to. Every time I hear the Grange Hill theme tune, I think of him. Sadly, Simon passed away in 2009.
4th Moderator Election - Utter madness and hilarious from beginning to end!

I'm sure many more memories will come flooding back as I read the rest of this topic! Laughing

I am so glad that at least I got the opportunity of sharing one last birthday together with this wonderful forum! TV Forum was launched on the 22nd of March 2001, the day I turned 3.......so I'd like to take this opportunity to wish TV Forum a Happy 20th Birthday! I am honoured that I was able to take part in this community before it closed and I can't wait to see you all on TV Live Forum!

Not really one for posting much, but maybe because this is going to be the last chance or never.

I think I found this place called TVForum while studying my GCSE Media coursework. I dont think it took me too long to make an account. Well from there I was hooked, daily, sometimes as big news stories broke, refreshing by the minute to follow the coverage from TVForums point of view.I have tried already to wean myself off, visiting as little as possible, its not working, so I am going to be shocked next week.

GMTV to Daybreak was probably the most highly anticipated time I can recall, waking up early switching on ITV and TVForum on my mobile until 7am.

I have tried to contribute only useful things, perhaps the embedded tweets in time will disappear and make no sense to the read only site. But lets hope what can be saved, is safe for a few more years.

I cannot imagine how much effort Asa has put into the site, reading the previous posts, its sounds like a huge amount of time and effort has been put into it, to keep it going all these years, with minor updates here and there.

What an achievement for yourself personally, congratulations and thankyou.
And a thankyou to Mods over the years who supported the forum.

See you around.

Finding out TV Forum will close at the end of the month, was quite a shock for me. I just realised that it has been 20 years since I joined TV Forum. I've never posted that much, but I followed most of the topics here. It was a great place to follow tv presentation/graphic design from a different, more in-depth point of view. Not only from the UK, but also from the rest of the world. I was very happy to see there are more people interested in this kind of design Very Happy . It has been an inspiring place.

I would like to thank the complete team behind TV Forum, all members for all the information they've shared here and, last but not least, Asa for creating this place. Maybe we'll meet again at TV Live Forum Wink

Surely if he announces on 1 April that the forum isn’t closing, then it’s definitely closing?
