In that case, I should probably confess to the fact that I am the previously banned user Maaixuew.
I had intended on confessing to this fact once Prince Philip had passed away, but I fear now that this might be too late for me to do so, what with the impending closure of the forum.
Asa, your hard work has been appreciated by me. It's been a massive part of my life for almost 20 years. Thank you for everything you have done for the TV presentation community.
As a way of keeping television presentaiton discussion going, I will be launching a new forum on TV Live very soon.
Is tv live on Facebook? If so, can you post the link to your new forum on there?
Asa, I may have only been a member of TV Forum since 2013 (which I'm aware is only a third of the time the site has existed and you and our founding members have been here) but nevertheless, I’ve enjoyed my time here very much and would like to thank you and the rest of the top table for keeping it going for so long, a task which – as you alluded to - must have been thankless at times. I visit this site daily, it's become part of my routine, and I shall miss it very much, however, you must do what’s right for you, and if that’s closing the site, then that’s what you must do. Thanks a lot for all you’ve done, and I hope you’ll feel a weight has been lifted following this decision. Thanks again.
You put this more eloquently than I could have.
I do have one question, as I didn't see it mentioned here, if the relaunched TV Home will continue automatically recording idents.
Terrible news but I understand your reasoning. I've enjoyed reading and writing on here for the past 5 or so years and I've loved it so much. Hopefully we can come to some alternative site in the near future so we can continue our geekery.
Thank you Asa and to Charlie Wells and Bail too. We've loved having this site.
If you want to continue hear my incompetent waffle, you can follow me on Twitter @JoshxReid. It is linked in my profile.
Oh that is a shame. I hope we can find a new home. There is another one I frequent that could be a good option - will have to ask if it's still invite-only.
I actually find this place to be much calmer and nicer than other places such as Digital Spy. People are generally more willing to listen to other people's opinions and debate in a more grown-up way.
I’m really sorry to read that the site is going to close Asa, but I totally get the reasons as to why you’ve taken this decision. And to be fair 20 years for a hobby, is a bloody good run.
It’s been great posting and commenting on topics of interest and meeting other users over the years who share a similar interest. Some of which we also connect with on social media.
It’ll be weird at first when the site does close, I can imagine for a good number of us, the site has been here for most of our adult lives, and visiting this Forum is something we do pretty much every day, even if we don’t post. It’ll be odd that the Forum will no longer be here come a few weeks time.
Due to the sheer number of people we’ve interacted with then and now, this is the end but like anything in life such as leaving school or changing jobs you may fall out of contact with people, but I’ve certainly had a blast here, and I’ll miss it. The world will carry on, and somewhere a channel will probably have another rebrand...
I'm devastated beyond words. Been here since day one and everyday since. I might as well get rid of my internet connection now.
Thank you, Asa, for everything you have given us. I know from bitter experience how hard it is to run a discussion forum. I only managed it for about 7 years I think. I can fully appreciate why you've had enough.
I really hope we can collectively move elsewhere as it would be very sad to lose our community.
Many thanks. As well as that Rob, on my model railway layouts youtube page, clydebridge station, once the new forum is set, let me know what it is, via the clydebridge station facebook page, and I'll give it a shout out on a future video or three!
Very sorry to read this but truely understand your reasons for closing it down I mean for me, tv forum was my link to the world of television and what could have been had I been committed and proactive and made it to the industry like many on here have, it also got me interested in the world of motorised sat telly had discover the great tv presentation that is out there. I have meet some great people on here and yeah it’s going to leave a massive hole really, but it’s been a privilege to have been one of the founder members and I can only apologise to the insiders for some posts I have made, but yeah in summary I am saddened but Asa and the moderators have been fantastic, so wish you all well in your next endeavours, whatever it may be.
