The Sun reckon that Rob Rinder is in the running to replace Piers, although they’re also saying that the producers haven’t ruled out having rotating guests rather than a permanent replacement:

In reality I expect they’ve done nothing except bounce ideas around, but interesting nonetheless.

They didn't have to do a big interview with Opera.

Now that would sell some tickets.

I like Rob Rinder but I'm not sure it'll work as people will be expecting to be like his Judge Rinder persona.

I’d rather not see rotating guest hosts. I don’t really enjoy it on The One Show & then you seem to have the same 3/4 continuously!

Interesting the quote from 2019 on the previous page does show how far GMB has come. From 700k to 1.2m. But going on the fact that BBC Breakfast hasn’t really gone down, it must be extra viewers thanks to being at home. If things start heading back to normal in the coming months, those viewers could quickly fall away.

Seeing as it's the S*n it will probably be lies as usual.

The audience for GMB is likely those who would normally listen to LBC or TalkRadio in the morning on their commute to work. Because RAJARs have been suspended due to the pandemic, we won't know how those stations and others have been doing in the last few months.

To be fair Susanna is a very good friend of Rob Rinder... but everyone here is right he wouldn’t be right for the show either.

sticking with GMB is their only option (apart from just throwing cartoons and news summaries at us an a cheap alternative)

That's a flashback to the days of GMTV.

Rob Rinder would be a really good shout.

The friendship chemistry with Susanna would work well and Rob is very intelligent. He doesn't suffer fools and would be more than capable to challenge contributors in a clear, firm, structured way. If you've seen him on This Morning and even from clips of his appearance on GMB - he is really good at putting forward a view but also being balanced.

I would definitely say this would be a good call!

I actually thought about Judge Rinder yesterday, but didn’t want to add to the ridiculous suggestions.

I think he’d either be absolutely brilliant or absolutely terrible in the role. I’m sure they’d be keen to try him out in any case.

Chuckled to myself when I saw that, but on second glance, as a former criminal barrister, he would be very good at questioning politicians (take that however you like!).

He's also charismatic and I think would do the lighter side quite well.

Still think it sounds like a nuts idea... but it could work!
