A bit of variation is always welcome, and, in terms of Rory Bremner specifically, a decent choice, as I think a bit of light relief is much needed at the moment.

Well, it's certainly bad news for Spitting Image, given on their "US Election Special" on ITV he appeared in a grand total of one sketch, in which he had two (feed) lines.
Funnily enough in my Radio Times back issues, there are various letters about Mike Yarwood appearing on Nationwide on the day of Reagan's inauguration in 1981, doing a monologue as Reagan, with numerous complaints that this was disrespectul to Reagan and to the whole of the US on such a significant day for them. And a few weeks later there's an interview with Yarwood talking about it, saying he learned not to mix comedy with a news programme, and that he'd actually asked them to insert a line about "President Yarwood" to make it clear it was supposed to be just a bit of fun and not an attempt to immediately undermine and lampoon Reagan, but they didn't do it.

I’m sorry, but Adam Boulton describing the current US President as a ‘pompous, petty little man’ just now is completely unprofessional.
Regardless of what you think about Donald Trump, a supposedly impartial broadcaster should not be dishing out personal insults to a world leader.

He is definitely both pompous and very much petty - I don't think any reasonable person with even a slight grasp on reality could disagree? So should that be allowed? I'm not too sure - I guess so? As long it's by and large correct then it's alright?

In my mind, it’s a description that comes down to opinion, not fact. Not everyone will view him like that and, as such, a supposedly impartial journalist shouldn’t be allowed to broadcast in that manner.

On an impartial news channel, we need journalists reporting facts, not their own opinion. Of course, if he was quoting someone, this wouldn’t be an issue....but he wasn’t.

"Impartiality" is dangerous when it comes to "pompous, petty men" like Trump. We need journalists to call it how it is.
