Well I hope we ain't in the scenario when we find out the outcome of the election during the PM press conference at 5pm this afternoon as it will cause a bit of a pain on what to show for UK broadcasters.

It could be a bit of a pain for the PM!

There is a result from one state due at around 5pm but even though that might take Biden over the threshold it's still not really an 'outcome' as such, it'll be a few weeks until it's finalised. The way it's going the winner won't be definite until the Electoral College meets in December

If it is announced during the presser I hope he gets asked about it

Poor old Boris, there he is trying to control the virus, and keeps having to consider a foreign election result, a reality TV show, and some Rugby matches....

I'm sorry, Prime Minister, we're going to have to stop you there to go back to the newsroom for some breaking news…

Or someone hands the PM a bit of paper and tells him to read it. Then he can throw to Rishi Sunak for the weather.

Trump (edit: campaign) is doing a news conference at 16:30.
Johnson is doing a press conference at 17:00...

Going to be interesting to see what happens if the former overruns.

Well, the BBC could easily show both, and let the viewer decide which one they want to watch, but hey, First World problems....

Nevada are doing an update on their count at 1700 GMT.

If that means that NV (with 6 EC votes) is announcing that it's gone for Biden then the news outlets who currently have the count as 264 for Biden will have a winner.

That doesn't include the BBC as they've not included Wisconsin and Arizona and he's on 243.

The Trump announcement's just going to be unhinged ranting about stolen votes, how they're suing to stop states counting (apart from Arizona and Nevada of course who have to keep counting just in case there's enough remaining votes for him to take the lead) and how Trump's the real winner, I doubt the BBC would prioritise it if there's an overlap for some reason.

I imagine if they're able to World News would be covering the US Elections, whilst the News Channel will have the government briefing with the ticker and/or other graphics giving any election updates.

Oh yes, the ticker, to yet again obscure the already incomprehensible government slides

Although arguably if world are covering the US elections it would make more sense to keep that on the NC, with viewers wishing to hear from the PM being directed towards BBC One.
