I have no problem with Emily’s introduction at all and any suggestions it’s the start of Foxification of the BBC are ridiculous. Balance is important in news but balance for the sake of balance and pretending both sides are equally true helps nobody. None of what Emily said was unfactual and holding the powerful to account and telling the news/stories of the day is equally as important to journalism as balance as I’m sure Emily does and continues to do.

And the optics of reprimanding Emily while giving airtime to people like Tom Harwood really are poor from the Beeb’s perspective. They don’t help themselves at times.

I’m guessing the Coronavirus Daily Update will be pushed to 7pm again. At least they’ve got a much more straight forward schedule to rip up tonight.

Or not.

Which means it will only be shown for 10 minutes when the BBC cut to the weather before joining the Six, despite covering this for more than 2 hours this afternoon on One. Rolling Eyes

If Tom Harwood gets a job as a BBC presenter you would have a point. It's a completely different thing to have obviously and openly partisan people appear on programmes (and labeled as such) than to have presenters making opinion pieces.

They’ll have to delay the Six as there seems to be quite important information today

Yep they’ve put it in the strap that the update will be continuing on the News Channel only.

Given it’s quite an important update surrounding the new Test and Trace, it’s another barmy decision to not delay the Six.

They’ve lost the plot.

Why show the Six when all they are going to do is summarise again what we’ve just seen on BBC One for the last 2 hours.

Indeed it didn’t help that all the graphics were removed including the strap informing to turn to the News Channel when it came to the time to interrupt the update as they were in the midst of showing a chart.

Shambles.

Maybe the government scheduled this on purpose, knowing the Beeb would cut away to start the Six, so they would be hounded for doing so......

In all serious, with all the rolling news going on anyway, I don't see why they just didn't carry on with the briefing and start the Six late.

So they show a select committee for 2 hours but abandon what is probably the most important government daily update in weeks?

When did the Six become so sacrosanct?

If England play in the Euros next year across teatime, can we expect the match to be transferred to BBC Two at 6pm?
