Just seen the clip of the intro and it does come across as editorial, but it is all factually correct.

I've said this all along but I do wonder if the BBC should consider the mental health of the nation more in adding more news to the BBC1/2 schedules. Yes, it's important and obviously people have the choice to watch or not, but I think it's generally agreed people need to limit their exposure to the news during times like this for their own health so maybe the BBC has a role to play in that too.

Agree that Clive Myrie's report last night was excellent journalism - and as someone with first hand experience of ITU at the Royal London Hospital, it is a worthy reflection of the dedication of the staff there.

It reminds you of how great Clive Myrie's delivery is. I'd like to see more of him in the field over presenting.

Emily Maitlis however completely over stepped during the start of news night last night. While I'd agree that Cummings was wrong in what he did the BBC is not a court so its not for Maitlis to decide whether he had broken the rules.

She was reporting facts though, so I don't believe she over stepped at all.

@AlexS. I ;politely ask you do your research before commenting. I seem to comment on your posts more than others. I don't know you, there is nothing underhand here BUT.... you really do post the most bizarre posts.

200% agreeing here! it just goes to show, editorial directorship does not lie with her bosses or such an opener wouldn't have happened. Same applies to the opener that went viral some weeks ago.

She is pure'journalistic brilliance'.

What did she say that was incorrect?

Me neither and for want of not desiring another red/yellow card shall refrain from further comment on ALEXS.

Agreed and if Naga can get in trouble for a throwaway comment you can bet Emily is swimming in dangerous waters. It has disappeared from the Newsnight twitter account apparently.

Which means it was right to be brought up and discussed then if its in the public domain?

This parliamentary business on BBC One right now is quite odd. Normally this would only be on BBC Parliament and might not even get as far as the BBC News Channel never mind front and centre on BBC One!

I find this very pointless to be shown on BBC One, they could have just stuck it on BBC Two if they needed to show it. All I'm hearing is the chair person telling Boris how many minutes he's running over. Even the daily briefings they could get away now with showing on Two.

You can hear the uproar online now since the BBC posted that statement.

People need to remember just because something is factually correct, as a news programme, you shouldn't be introducing it as if you're fronting a US cable prime time show.

I’m guessing the Coronavirus Daily Update will be pushed to 7pm again. At least they’ve got a much more straight forward schedule to rip up tonight.
