ITV Programming Thread

According to Keith Lemon on Twitter Through The Keyhole has been “rested”, so isn’t coming back.

Not that surprising, the ratings weren’t great last year. Plus with Catchphrase, The Masked Singer and The Voice ITV have probably already spent more than they were spending on Saturdays this time last year so don’t need it or have room for it.

I think that In For a Penny is Alien Fun Capsule’s replacement, the latter aired in summer at 6.45 in its last series so they don’t need to keep it around. It was good though, although was affectively just celebrities having a natter for half an hour with some funny bits. A x-rated version of it could work as well, mind.

Yeah I think as soon as it was moved to that slot last Summer it was pretty much doomed.

Although the more recent In For a Penny data points didn’t look great either, looking at the second half of the series and the Christmas special. Might be one to keep an eye on.

I wonder if the Greatest Dancer had done well if they would have taken the show from the BBC.

Going to be interesting to see what they will do this Autumn. I see a lot of filler shows taking center stage like The Chase, Catchphrase and The Voice Kids. I also think ITV will rely on I'm a Celeb again to bring in the income for that quarter.

I still think the Masked Singer will be back in September with a new show launching next January. Similar to how Strictly had 2 seasons in its first year.

Have they really just axed it now though, or is it just that Paddy has been in the news recently so the papers have wondered what’s happening with this previous projects and asked?

In reality Take Me out probably was last filmed about 2 years ago and was probably axed ages ago. The last series was thrown out 18 months after the previous one and early evening opposite Strictly.

Indeed - but was it cancelled recently, or a while ago, quietly?

I'm not sure it matters when it was axed. They've announced the cancellation now. It was probably on the 'rest' list like Family Fortunes, Through the Keyhole, The Cube, Big Star's Little Star, Ninja Warrior, X Factor etc.

But dating shows in this era of Love Island don't really work anymore so they've killed it.
