They’re all tipsy in Times Square! They’ve been accused of many things in 2019, but CNN definitely doesn’t believe in Fake Booze, Mr. Trump!

Anderson Cooper doing shots has to be the best moment of 2020 so far!

And Richard Quest dressed as Dame Judi Dench’s character from CATS.

Happy New Year, CNN style.

The Barbara Walter's skit was hilarious too

Hmmm. The promo for The Global Energy Challenge is airing.
What does CNN do? Flies John Defterios all the way from Abu Dhabi to the UK to cover it. Kind of contradicts the message they are trying to get across. They have a whole bureau in London with correspondents that could have covered it.
Almost as ironic as Richard Quest being one of the faces that CNN chose to highlight climate change. The man hosts Business Traveller and World of Wonder every month from different locations. And I'm betting he doesn't fly economy!!
I'm not an activist in case it's coming across that way - I work for an airline for crying out loud. One of the reasons I choose not to tell others how to conserve energy!

Have to say as much as I like many of the ATV shows on CNNI, it has been nice actually to have a more back-to-bacics schedule these last few days and to have largely CNN Newsroom bulletins rather than various shows with different presentation and fancy names. Nothing wrong with a simple newscast with strong presentation. I'm not sure too if much would be lost if you gave Becky or Hala's shows CNN Newsroom branding - I still think calling a show Tonight on an international news channel is stupid as it'll always be night somewhere and whatever the branding for a slot is you'd still have Becky or Hala anchoring who shine on any newcast.

The CNNI Newsroom look too is one that has continued to remain fresh and is quite classy too. Also since when did they have a voiceover for Newsroom - definetely heard one just now with a namecheck for Robyn Curnow and CNN Centre? Has it been around a while and I've just missed it?

I agree. There is no need for names such as 'Connect the World', 'Your World Today' and 'Hala Gorani Tonight'. They are essentially the same news bulletins as each other, covering the same news stories. The fancy titles don't mean anything to casual viewers.
People just want to switch the channel on for a few minutes to see the main news. Fancy names of news bulletins are not needed on a 24 hour news channel. Just let it be rolling news.
Regular viewers will get to know which presenter will probably be reading the news at the times they watch each day, if they really care.
In the US, a lot of news bulletins are 'personality driven', so I guess that is where this all comes from on CNN. However, CNN INTERNATIONAL should remember that most of their audience isn't American and just want to see the main news and perhaps don't care as much about who is reading it.

Well CNN legacy programming has used titles for their programmes and its not considered a rolling news channel. Since they invented 24hour news we can hardly criticize something that no one had the foresight to do. They had no competition. As no one had the ability or resources to do it. Thats their legacy. So i dont think the fact they use titles can be rightly criticized too harshly IMO. CNN Headline News was considered a rolling news channel when it launched. SkyNews, i would consider a rolling news channel. Since a vast majority of the programming is a 30 minute wheel. CNN and CNNI Over the years rolled back the use of titles and named everything NewsRoom. But since Zucker took over, the tone of the channels have changed any they have resumed the use of titles.

Headline News was considered a rolling news channel...not CNN.

Laura Jarrett has joined Early Start as co-acnhor, replacing Dave Briggs. This isn't the first time Early Start has had two woman lead a show.

Great piece on her joining the show in Variety. Am sure there'll be a few disgruntled peeps at CNN who were overlooked.

^^^ I thought they might consider someone from CNNI or with at least an international background, since Early Start is now a CNNI show as well that actually features some international news, unlike all other domestic shows. Amara Walker would have been a great choice, since she now only seems to be used as a fill in for weekend New Day and she appeared a few times on Early as well. That said, she has a family in Atlanta so moving to NY could be a problem. Anyway, the woman they have chosen seems like a typical Zucker choice. A Democrat connected, legal ''expert'' to bring ''insight'' into their non stop Trump coverage. Pathetic....

Anyway, we have major international, US related, breaking news today and CNNI delivered great morning/overnight coverage with Michael Holmes (experienced Middle East reporter) and later Natalie and George. BUT, then came 0400 ET and time to switch to domestic and we get a biz woman Christine Romans and Valerie's daughter followed by whichever talking head is on New Day.

Gone are the days when we would get long serving, experienced CNNI veteran anchors and reporters from the region giving us proper coverage, all day long.....

Yeah. Where are Becky Anderson, Sam Kiley and the dedicated Middle Eastern hub team at CNN Abu Dhabi??

I switch off as soon as any US domestic simulcast begins.

^^^They are all on a collective Christmas/New Year holiday it seems, though I suspect they will all be rushing back to work today.

Also, someone asked about a voiceover during CNN Newsroom titles. This is used only for Robyn Curnow's slots, she also starts the show standing at the screen and then walks to the chair, during the opening shot, similar to how her IDesk was done.

Well, so much for Becky Anderson's preaching on her ads every 5 minutes about the Middle East team reporting and providing perspective 'on this region, from this region'.
She says 'that's why we're here...'. Well where are they all when such big news breaks in that region? All on holiday and the International channel's coverage comes from New York... 🙄
