I like the opening sequence. It looks very stylish.

The soft area was utilised for two-ways by both presenters this evening. It involves them sitting in a slightly uncomfortable position to look at the video wall behind the sofa, and I wonder how long it will be before that’s ditched.

I'm not sure about half of the opening titles starting in the middle of the headline sequence, with the other half commencing once the headlines are finished.

Seems a little disjointed to me. Otherwise it all seems nice enough, preferred the outgoing music in my opinion. Studio is the biggest improvement of it all.

The music and bed seems far too cheery for the headlines. Nice studio though.

I suspect the Nine O'Clock and tomorrow's One O'Clock News will be more traditional in the opening intro, and the disjointed titles are for the Six-One News only as it is their one hour flagship news, so has a different style.

Good reboot, RTE.
Even though the news theme has lost some of its 'bang crash' of previous versions, I do like this updated version. In fact, I think it's one of the more memorable and tuneful news themes anywhere.

Not to sure about the background screen wipes with the still of the main story out of the opening titles though. Too quick and distracting.

Consistency with RTE News putting 'odd' graphics on the opening titles is still present. What are those 'tube' things supposed to represent? If they were stuck over the locations of major cities - Belfast, London, Oslo, Paris ect I could see the thinking, but those many?

Liking the newsdesk on that uplight LED 'island'.

Are you watching ITV News? This is how a relaunch with a real screen backdrop should be done - see how it's done in Dublin, and come back and ditch your cold and unwelcoming CGI greenscreen mess.

Always bugs me when press shots are released of TV studios etc looking like this - the screen in the desk looks awful and it's obviously never how you'd want it to look on air, so why put out loads of press shots where your shiny new set looks like it's broken?

Oh dear oh dear - the Nine O'Clock News opening was dreadful. They have kept the disjointed opening sequence and the titles concluded before the music did, leaving us with a near frozen Nine O'Clock still before they went back into the studio. Also, for some reason, they have Eileen Dunne seated at the desk for the opening headlines and then she stands for the first story. Pointless.

Very badly disjointed and RTE News need to fix the music and titles cues. From a promising start to just lousy in the space of a few hours.

The 9 O'Clock opening a full opening but either the titles started early or the music doesn't seem to fit the titles as the titles came to an end and stopped while the music was still playing.

Either a cock up in the production gallery or this is the new Nine O'Clock News titles.

Surely it must of been a cock up. It was a complete mess. No self resepecting broadcaster would out out something as bad as that. (Not including That's TV for that matter.)

You have never watched RTE Television before this then I guess?
