Surely it must of been a cock up. It was a complete mess. No self resepecting broadcaster would out out something as bad as that. (Not including That's TV for that matter.)
You have never watched RTE Television before this then I guess?
Briefly when I was over in Dublin last year. Makes me glad I've got STV.
Either a cock up in the production gallery or this is the new Nine O'Clock News titles.

RTE News is known for cock ups, and their presentation of some of their news output is below par. Their news summaries are really basic, located in what one journalist called the "nuclear bomb shelter studio at Montrose".

Wow that is really scraping the barrel - "RTÉ News is known for cock ups".
You really seem to have a massive chip on your shoulder about RTÉ News output.
Can I ask a simple question?
Do you actually pay an Irish TV licence fee or pay taxes in Ireland?

Interestingly on the Nine, the first two-way was done the same way it was in the previous look (from the desk), with the second done from a standing position (which hadn’t typically been utilised on the Nine previously and was slightly odd).

The soft area was utilised for two-ways by both presenters this evening. It involves them sitting in a slightly uncomfortable position to look at the video wall behind the sofa, and I wonder how long it will be before that’s ditched.

Always bugs me when press shots are released of TV studios etc looking like this - the screen in the desk looks awful and it's obviously never how you'd want it to look on air, so why put out loads of press shots where your shiny new set looks like it's broken?
It reminds me of those press shots of the Good Morning Britain studio where the biggest screen had a rainbow effect on it.

Yes - €160 a year, as I have a house in County Donegal, and I pay UK income tax so no I do not pay Irish income tax. In fact I pay a higher rate of income tax in the UK than if I were working in Ireland for the same amount in €uros.

News2Day on RTÉ2 is not from broadcasting Studio 3 yet. It has very little presentation changes so far to date. Although News2Day is in the same studio for the past while. There is an updated backdrop in place for the regular weekend RTÉ News summaries. The updated backdrop has changed colour from yellow to blue.

Does News2Day use one of the smaller presentation studios for their programmes?

Yep. They have been using it for the last while. News2Day is due to move back into Studio 3 soon but that date for now is unclear.
