Slapping the ITV logo on to the side of Television Centre is just a disgrace. It is still owned by the BBC. BBC Studioworks have that rights over the three studios remaining there. Yes, ITV sublet Studios 2 and 3, but that does not give them the right to claim it is their studios, as they do on GMB each morning.

It would be like a BBC show claiming they were coming from the BBC London Studios, when they were using their old southbank site, and no BBC show ever did, they always said it was The London Studios, or even sometimes the ITV London Studios.

Sorry if I seem picky and annoyed, it is just I have a lot of love for Television Centre, been there so many times, and yes it is good to see it up and running as studios, but it is still the BBC Television Centre to me.

Is it really a disgrace, or is a sense of perspective needed here? I'd argue that it's more of a disgrace that the BBC flogged the complex for peanuts, but that's a different thread.

but that does not give them the right to claim it is their studios, as they do on GMB each morning.

Ugh, not this argument again. "Live from ITV Studios..." doesn't refer to the building, but rather the production company making the show.

Imagine if ITV decided they needed their own studios and bought TVC off the BBC? If Coca Cola can buy Costa Coffee anything could happen! Some people would implode.

Yes, but words are important, and have an emphasis on something which is not technically correct. I only comment on this, as I have a great love for that centre, and hated what the BBC did to nearly 80% of it. Only three studios left. I know there were plans to keep TC4, but I have seen the plans which said it would not be "cost effective".

Hi JKDerry,

I've had this from a TV insider and was asked to pass it on -

By your standards then, it should be called the Alberta Investment Management Corporation, Stanhope & Mitsui Fudosan UK Television Centre as they're the ones that own it now.

Whether it's "still the BBC Television Centre" to you is one thing, but actually - it isn't. This forum is great for those who are passionate about all things TV related, but that should not mean we post things that are factually incorrect, even if it is driven by that passion.

It's never going to be BBC TVC again - and if ITV have the permission off the owners to brand it a certain way, they have every right.

That's exactly what I was hoping for. A chance to reflect on its significant contribution to television with a peak time special.

They’ve secured some big names like Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet, I assume they’ll brush over the disastrous Twiggy and Colleen run.

The anniversary week should be good although I wonder if they’ll go to the Albert Docks like they did with the 25th

Worth watching, if only to see how they get around the 'Talbot' issue.

Suspect they won't airbrush him out of the shows past, but won't be as noticeable now that the law has quite rightly threw the book at him.

Of course, it has cropped up once previously.

I'd be surprised if they mention Fred at all. He wasn't a huge part of the shows history, it just means they won't be able to show the clip of the naked streaker.

Of course the pre-recorded documentary format ensures that Fern Britton avoids any screentime with Philip.

I'd be more interested to see what they do for the actual show on the date of the birthday. I'd imagine Alison and Rylan may go up to Liverpool but they won't do the whole show from there again.

I got the impression that to most who worked there it was just The Television Centre.

If they were claiming it as "ITV Television Centre" there may be some room for complaint, but that name is already in use in Leeds.

Although there are lots of BBC Broadcasting Houses around the country, I guess.
