Just been trying to find old This Morning clips from when Philip did Fridays in place of John. There wasn't much about but did come across this clip:

Does anyone know who the male presenter is presenting with Fern? I've absolutely no idea who he is.

According to the credits at the end of that video, John Revell. Used to do a lot of radio (producing I think) and was heavily involved with Chris Evans's company I believe?

Yes, he was the producer of Evans' breakfast show on both Radio 1 (he was the one who phoned up on the day they left to say they weren't coming in) and Virgin, and it was on Virgin where he started doing some DJing in his own right, with his Wheels of Steel show.

Here he seems to be on Twitter - https://twitter.com/johnrevell - though he seems to have been so depressed by the result of the last election he stopped tweeting immediately after.

This podcast interview with John Revell discusses his radio career, including his up-and-down relationships with Chris Evans, in great depth: https://podfollow.com/1459316952/episode/bae845d8b1b7b052eeee4a121139bbf1e669dbe5/view

For what it's worth, Evans is genuinely contrite in his second book about the incident in which he 'fired' the original team from his (1997-2001) Virgin Radio show and speaks very highly of Revell in both of his autobiographies, so clearly the hatchet has been buried from his side. Mind you, Revell gave some highly inflammatory comments about Evans in the Top Gear 2016 disaster...

Who did Phil generally present with when he started as presumably Fern had Fridays off - guess it was Ruth or Lorraine.

Colleen Nolan possibly? I thought she was retained after the 2001 revamp, but demoted to occasional host

Quite often with Ruth. They actually showed a clip last week of them presenting together at that time. (Clip was related to a guest they had on IIRC)

I think she'd gone by the time Phil joined as initially John did five days a week. Ruth did seem most likely as I know she was around in 2002 (her and Eamonn did the Jubilee coverage) with Eamonn not joining regularly until a few years later when Phil went down to 4 days a week. Lorraine Kelly also did Mondays and Fridays for a period too.

Ruth joined in 2000.

Phillip was a guest presenter in the late 90s and joined permanently in 2002.

Eamonn hosted the Jubilee special in 2002 was made permanent in 2006.

Holly joined in 2009.

Didn't see too much of Allison hosting in the summer but thought she was effortless today and far more professional than her persona suggested she might be, also doing the serious stuff rather well.

I hope Alison is seriously considered post Holly.

She did better today. She supposedly chose the topics today too, meaning the items were things she knew more about and could contribute better. For example, the phone in was about children spending too much time on computers - something she has been struggling with her son.

Alison and Dermot were fun. I would like to see him present it more regularly with someone else (not Rochelle!!). He seems to be the main male stand in these days for Phillip and Eamonn.
