Aren't they launching the Paramount Channel soon, which will also be showing drama?

Yes, it does feel like they might be spreading themselves a bit thin. I think 5Prime will probably end up having a greater focus on factual, repeating the C5 stuff that doesn't particularly fit on 5Star or Spike like GPs Behind Closed Doors and their history docs. I feel like drama series will end up being a bit more few and far between like they are on More4.

I can see Paramount ending up treading more on the toes of 5USA than this channel.

Actually A516 thinks this might be instead of Paramount which would make sense given that they've brought Spike under the 5 banner. 5Prime logo here as well: http://www.a516digital.com/2017/12/my-5-tv-channel-to-rebrand.html

Channel 5 are going to commission homegrown dramas from next year so I reckon 5Prime will be the natural home for repeats of these new dramas along with new acquisitions and perhaps Wentworth could end up on 5Prime for its sixth series

Maybe it's just my eyes, but I read that initially as 'SPRIME'.

It's remaining on Freeview and Freesat so I assume it means Premium content rather than it's now a Pay channel

Well, that's what I thought too

It makes sense to use the "5" branding instead of the Paramount one in the UK, I guess

Not for 'premium' content IMO.

Urgh yet another channel?!

Why can't they just make one or two really good channels?

There's only a certain amount of people who still watch TV and yet the channel list is growing :/

Channel 5 don't exactly have a bumper line-up of shows as it is, so spreading that even thinner with another new channel is lunacy. So, they have four spin-off channels now, possibly five if Paramount does indeed launch. It's going to be repeat city on all of them, and not a single one is available in HD. Hardly a selling point of your new "prime" service if you can't even offer viewers a decent picture.

Now they have got rid of My5 TV, will they finally get round to updating Demand 5 on every platform to My5 branding and changing that ruddy huge, bright, badly positioned and out of date DOG on Demand 5 as well.
