I don't think it's resonated in the same way the Paralympics did for them but did well enough to justify bidding next time around, though much might depend on whether they bid (successfully) to get the racing back, which would determine their sports strategy from 2021 on.

.... and a lot depends on how UEFA market the event. UEFA will be keen to monetise heavily, especially elsewhere where extraordinary levels of viewing have been recorded. They can't discriminate across territories dependent on their levels of support.

Here's Channel 4 ratings for England matches in UEFA Euro 2017

England v Scotland – 1.4 million (2.2 million peak)
England v Spain – 1.5 million (2.1 million peak)
England v Portugal – 1.3 million (2 million peak)
England v France – 2 million (3.3 million peak)
England v Netherlands – 2.6 million (4 million peak)

The bottom 2 peak figures are the most watched woman’s football matches in the UK of all time

The PR department wilfully forgot about the 2012 Great Britain v Brazil match (3.9 million peak).

C4 did beat that record on Thursday, but they've treated this tournament strangely. (Totally untelevised at the start, wall-to-wall coverage by the end.) What'll happen by 2021, I couldn't possibly say.

While Sky Sports have brought back Soccer Saturday today for the start of the EFL, BT Sport Score doesn't return until next Saturday which is also being shown on BT Sport Showcase on Freeview as they did for the latter end of last season.

Beautifully simple on screen graphics from Iceland on ES today

Which are practically identical to Sky's new set and not a million miles away from what BT Sport were doing last season.

Not reported on here is that BT Sport is showing this years Caribbean Premier League T20 cricket. Last year, Dave showed this event. World feed, hosted by Alan Wilkins today, being used as per last year.

Radio rights news: Hull City's commentary will now be on Viking2 instead of BBC Radio Humberside. It's a major downgrade, as Viking2 is DAB/AM, not FM. Mad

And in an embarrassing situation, technical issues meant it didn't happen. Good job today's match was on national station TalkSPORT.

Nice of them to tweet to say it was on TalkSport, a competitor.

Minor font change in the Bundesliga originated coverage this season. Slight typeface adjustment but it has amuch greater weighting now.
