Sad news - probably one of the most recogniseable voices at the BBC, even if many wouldn't be able to name him.

Very familiar voice, and will be sadly missed. He helped the dutch get to the Olympics this year. It's so sad he won't be there to see it. Thoughts with his family.

The Setanta name change seems to be going ahead tommorow. Setanta Ireland and Premier Sports both going out DOGless tonight.

Sky's jumping the gun seems to have earned someone a rap on the knuckles, as they have said they'll no longer announce EPG changes in advance on their forum.

Well the rebrand has happened and Setanta Sports is gone in its home market. The end for the company that took on Sky for the Premier League and although it failed miserably, paved the way for ESPN and BT eventually. Indeed the new eir Sport is taking its lead straight out of BT's playbook - the Eir Sport pack including all four BT Sport linear channels will be free for Eir Broadband customers. Presumably this is one of the things they are rowing with Virgin Media over.

As for presentation, I didn't see a junction on Eir Sport 1, but their DOG is huge. With a capital HUGE. In fact if there were a prize for biggest DOG it would possibly win it. Eir Sport 2 is of course just Premier Sports still, but with no DOG. In fact the Premier Sports logo no longer seems to appear on screen at all, with presentation going out unbranded a la 1990s ITV Nighttime.

Motors TV is off air on Virgin channel 545 and has apparently disappeared from the Sky guide altogether.

What message does it have on Virgin at the minute? The way they do things, is that they'd inform customers of the channel's closure via a slate. Sky usually would be, 'f*** it, remove it immediately'.

This happened before, back in February, and it was sorted. I had also added the channel to "other channels". The last time, the channel was transmitting. This time - blue screen.

Looks like Motors TV UK is dead. No satellite uplink on Astra 2G, and social media links haven't been updated for a while. And its parent company has kept the French version on air, but they are going through a 'safeguarding' procedure - similar to a Company Voluntary Agreement.

That is not a good position to be in, look at Sit-Up and see how they went from there. And the channel was pulled abruptly as well, making it a double slap in the face.

Were these rights previously not held anywhere or have they acquired them from another broadcaster ?

Pointlessly hidden away on red button and online. That's no way to give a minority sport exposure.
