Women's race from Le Tour de Yorkshire wasn't broadcast today due to technical issues with the relay plane.

Also, the graphics look like the Tour De France ones. With French text etc. What's that about? Do vsquared do it as a world feed?

If they are the TdF graphics, then that is the France Televisions Sport graphics house style, which would indicate that tv coverage has been contracted out to France Televisions who are producing for the race organizers.

That's the thing, it was done by VSquared/Timeline_tv. Or was that just the studio show for ITV

for anyone (still) interested on this, there's a wee bit more about it on Timeline's blog.

NBC Sports today aired the Kentucky Derby. Nyquist came in first place. Here's the video showing the graphics and race. It's pretty much the standard NBC package.

I'm curious are any of the triple crown races (Derby, Preakness and Belmont) broadcast in the UK?

Here's some details of the production care of Sports Video Group. In addition they broadcast it in virtual reality using seven VR cameras which are made up with a pair of RED 4K cameras and is switched from a 2 M/E switcher.

I think it was shown on At the Races which is one of the Uk racing channels, not sure if Racing UK had it.

Rugby Union news, BBC Scotland have secured the rights to broadcast both of Scotland's summer tests against Japan live. This is the first time for a few years that BBC Scotland have shown a Scotland summer tour test live, the last being in Argentina. In 2014, the Canada v Scotland match was shown live on BT Sport, and the USA v Scotland match on the Daily record website.

The way DOGs should be done, Rugby 7's series, has a watermarking DOG bottom right, which is only visible if concentrated on. It disappears into the pitch even in HD. It does it's job but is wholly unobtrusive.

So, right now a very rare event.
The same Rugby game (European Club Final) being shown live on both Sky Sports 2, and, BT Sport Europe.

Both are shared rights holders, but when was the last time these bitter rivals ended up showing any live event of any sport at the same time?

This match, the same time last year, maybe?

Last night actually - the Challenge Club Final - this is all a fall out from the English Premiership hijacking the European competitions by selling rights to BT they didn't have the rights too.

I guess these will be due for renewal soon and you'd think both would be keen to take exclusivity of the event, though it's probably almost certainly wishful thinking to believe that any might end up FTA as a consequence of this.

Confused Ohh! Thanks Brekkie. I had other things in my mind last night to notice. I guess the Aviva Premiership final at the HQ will also be a shared live game as well?

No, BT have exclusive rights to that one. Was an odd moment though during this afternoon's final (I was watching on Sky) when they had a shot of the BT Sport analysis team. However, the game being in Lyon, I presume the host broadcasters were neither BT nor Sky.

Afaik the EPCR TV deal was to run for four years and today marks the end of year two.

There is, incidently, some talk of BT sublicensing a Premiership Rugby package to a terrestrial broadcaster, though that raised its head before and didn't happen in the end

In reference to the terrestrial involvement in Premiership rugby, there was talk a couple of years ago, but the suggestion was first instigated by Premiership Rugby, not BT Sport. I think basically Premiership rugby wanted their competition to avoid being like football, and going behind a paywall. The idea was that one package of live rights would go to a FTA broadcaster. Nothing more was heard, until rdd made his post above. Wouldn't surprise me if we did see live premiership games in FTA.

I should cite my source, of course!
