One thing I think they should change though, is not have the player immediately say Final Answer every time unless it's a really obvious answer. If the player has used a lifeline, or the question is for a significant sum of money, the host should be asking "Is that your final answer" or similar, just to make sure the contestant doesn't instantly lock in a wrong answer.

In the Tarrant era, even if the contestant was super confident, he wouldn't have them rushing into a decision and always asked the question before locking in the answer with "Final Answer"

I agree with that, I feel it's a bit unnecessary with the harder questions.

It's done for pretty obvious reasons and repeated on all versions around the world so there can be no confusion, whether it is for £100 or a million.

In Tarrant days they tended not to ask it on the easier questions, unless they edited it out?

I suspect if someone was heading for a wrong answer they’d have confirmed it was the final answer.

Yeah, they didn't do the final answer thing all the time, it was usually from £1k up that it was often done. Tarrant usually got a prompt via his screen if he needed to ask "Final Answer", presumably based on contestant behavioural patterns that the producers were monitoring.

They only really rigidly started the final answer from Q5 for £1k because it was the last point they could go home with nothing. You don't really need to do the final thing on the first few questions, they're easy enough. I can see Brekkie's POV though, it standardises things and avoids any issues, but host should be able to ask the question himself if needed.

Ouch. Phone a Friend said the Gs in the Google logo were green. Then 50/50 left two options. Blue, and green. So the contestant said green and got the wrong answer.

That was a hellish question. People see it all the time, but it doesn’t exactly stay in the mind.

It is probably also the contestant pre-empting the question.

True, but what really hurts there is that the lifelines let the guy down. Had 50/50 eliminated green (and left blue and yellow), or Phone a Friend correctly said blue, he likely wouldn't have lost.

Well if the lifelines gave you the right answer the right answer it might as well be a skip the question lifeline.

I would say he should have asked Jeremy but Amazon probably have it in his contract to provide the wrong answer to any Google related questions Wink
