Sometimes though it can be enthusiasts who help get these issues sorted. Like how the Adam West Batman wasn't out on home video until just over a year ago because of rights issues- apparently it was a dedicated group of fans who tracked down who owned what and sorted out the issues

Absolutely, if anyone's going to find out or sort out the issue then it will be enthusiasts, but going by his attitude it's not going to be Riaz.

As I say there are organisations dedicated to finding lost TV footage and I don't think they've had much luck.

I suspect if there was some cult sci-fi classic sitting in the TVS archive then things could be a bit different. I don't suppose the CATS Eyes fan club are quite as big or enthusiastic a group as some programmes have! Very Happy

Here's the Buena Vista endcap which replaces that of TVS in ITV3 reruns of Ruth Rendell:

Riaz posted:

I did hear... I did hear... I did hear...

I want some real proof and evidence.

I want... I want... I want...

Possibly you need to investigate yourself.

Well someone knows where the tapes are, otherwise we wouldn't have had the TVS Catchphrase clips on the ITV Gameshow Story, and The Meakers (who I believe is Nic Ayling) has uploaded a fair bit of broadcast quality TVS clips to YouTube, so I can't help but think he knows where they are! He may be unwilling, or maybe not even allowed to disclose what he knows though.

That video (or variants of it) has been doing the rounds for years, and it's fake. The audio was taken from an episode of Coast To Coast where they played the theme out clean over shots of Christmas lights. The original fake had the correct TVS clock which didn't feature a logo in the corner but just TVS in white lettering.

Seems hard to believe it's fake when you look at the account it's come from- why would he make or post a fake when he has access to so much genuine TVS material? It's not like we're talking cwilliams1976 here, it's someone from what he's posted clearly has access to the TVS archive (or at least some of it).

Also it was also used as TVS start up, https://youtu.be/WebnZzBxG4c?t=70

That VT clock doesn't look very helpful for backtiming, if it's coming from a tape that needs a few seconds to run up.

It's fake.

Anyway, a bit more of a definitive answer regarding the location of the archive... brace yourselves!

Tonight I've been chatting to someone that worked for TVS and then Meridian, who reliably informs me that the archive was always split between Southampton and Maidstone. Whatever was in Southampton was moved to Leeds and there was an attempt to catalogue it a few years back but it's unclear how far this got.

Whatever TVS kept in Maidstone was still there as of 2012, and there's nothing to suggest it has been moved or skipped, as Maidstone has attic storage which isn't in anyone's way.

It's fake.

It's too well done to be called a fake. A loving homage, perhaps?
