Co-presenter was Alastair Yates - Penny and Ali presented Sunrise before Penny left for GMTV and Ali went on to WSTV.

Incidentally - they decided they were going live at the very last moment - wasn't it something rediculous like 15 minutes before!? A pre-recorded programme was going to be the first thing after the Sky Television launch promo but for some reason decided to drop it and really see if Penny and Ali could cut the mustard. I think the fact they're still around today proves that they pretty much did!

Am looking forward to the new graphics, I hope they have a "just works" idea about them like the current ones do. Apart from when they forget which graphics they're using and something you get the ticker modified versions overlaying the normal versions, then they are pretty damn good. They just lack a bit of a 3D effect or a simple gradient, but if they go the way of Sky News Australia then that will be sorted out.

Today is the day Michelle May was due to start at Sky News, as Northern Correspondent.

Did anybody see her at all.?.

I hear she is at Sky HQ this week... and launching in the north next Monday.

Nice to see people on here talking about important issues such as the solar system. Perhaps I have underestimated modern youngsters.

i think Sky News should cease its attempts to replicate the Sun newspaper on television, and channel its resources into providing a decent hardcore porn channel from Europe - one which shows actual penetration and thrusting.

such a channel would be pay per view, and not worth it, when you can see that sort of stuff without paying any subscriptions Wink

Having only just seen the new Littlejohn graphics, it would seem that the stings/idents themselves are pretty much a finished job (not so sure about that increadibly short opening sequence, though)

I quite like them. They have a nice 3D element to them, as well as being a bit pop-arty like the old set. That said, the red/white/blue/yellow(?!) colour scheme is a bit too much.

Hopefully the fact that they have moved away from the totally flat look to half 3D/half flat means that the graphics will follow suit.

Out of interest, what will become of the ticker? It's pretty decent at the moment, but I don't reckon animates and swooshes half as much as Sky would want it to. Will be interesting to see what - if anything - happens to that.
