Well there is no point to it, surely the Star Trek fans would be the ones who would know when the new series is starting anyway.

I'm talking about Sky News... obviously.

There have been a lot of complaints about the new graphics and Sky have totally ignored the viewers and carried on regardless. I don't pay £30+ a month to be ignored and treated as though my opinions don't matter. I wouldn't mind if Sky would actually reply to emails, at least then people would know if they are planning to keep these graphics. They have just entirely forgotten about the fact that the viewers are the people who keep them in business and if they ignore the viewers then they aren't doing themselves any favours.

Oh yes I forgot the great logo protests of November 2001 when thousands of people descended on Isleworth demanding that Sky News changes their graphics because 'they didn't like them'.
Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Just how many viewers have actually complained about the new look, not many I bet. I would say that they are going to keep the graphics, otherwise they wouldn't have started using them in the first place!

If you don't like them, then watch News 24 or ITN.... the choice is there

Does anyone have an Ident for Sky Scottish by the way it's a bit wierd that an ITV channel was associated with Sky concidering ITV & Sky have only just put thier diffrences aside

The differences between Sky and ITV didn't exist in 1995. They've only become a problem since 1998 and the Sky Digital vs ONDigital 'war'. For far too long ONDigital used 'But we have ITV' as their USP and it didn't work. And also, only since SkyDigital have ITV's advertising revenues seriously dropped (although I'd also blame a lack of quality programming and regional identification but they can't see that). In the old (and better if you ask me) days of Sky Analogue, there were fewer channels and fewer customers to loose advertising revenue to.

Your designs are very good, but knowing Sky they will just use some expensive designers who will come up with something crap.

What font did you use? At first I thought it was Handel Gothic MT but I noticed that your 'e' was different to the 'E' used in caps and non-caps in Handel Gothic.

You really think that Sky will ditch their current brand consultants.... who probably competed hard against several other companies to win the contract.... and pick 3 solo logos sent in by someone they've never heard of before?

I know the TV industry well and know how cynical it is - they probably took one look at your logos, shook their heads, chuckled, went 'tut', binned your designs and palmed you off with a 2 line e-mail knocked up just before going to the bar for lunch.

Sorry if this last bit sounds a bit harsh, but it's undoubtably true

Larry has a point  When it comes to logos, there's alot more to be done than just throwing something together in flash/photoshop or whatever. I'm not saying Flash is bad, watch Fingertips on ITV, their titles were done in Flash!

I like them myself, but the chances are they'll just ignore them Sad

When it comes to submitting ideas for logos, they get alot more than that, they won't go for a logo just by how it looks on paper, they want screen, print, computer aswell.

If you ever get hold of some graphics companies showreels, you can sometimes see idents or titles that were ditched and never made it to air, or were part of a tender for a contract and they didn't choose them for the work

I know at work when we had a potential job, a logo was done, stuff put together in combustion and then sent to them.
