I do have the Sky Scottish 1996 ident, yes.

Sorry the TV Ark satellite section had to close. Starting a website from scratch is never easy, and made even more difficult when I kept getting files removed from my server because of people downloading too much. I sadly didn't realise just how much time the section would take up and for that reason I had to give it up.

I'm sure there will be other people who have expressed interest in it and no doubt it'll be back up soon. I handed over all of the pages I'd finished to the team at TV Ark and so I'm sure you'll see a return of it in the not too distant future.

Larry has a point  When it comes to logos, there's alot more to be done than just throwing something together in flash/photoshop or whatever.  I'm not saying Flash is bad, watch Fingertips on ITV, their titles were done in Flash!

I like them myself, but the chances are they'll just ignore them Sad

Just like to add that I like them as well (forgot to put that in the last post)Smile

Well Larry & etc...

I have sent in several ideas before, but was too late to get them in for consideration.

As for the team working on the identites, they are not involving brand consultants which you would of known had you read the original article.

All the designs are being done in house, so what better opertunity to get your work noticed then sending it to one of the major people in that in house dept.

I do not think my ideas will be used, but at least i have had the opertunity to design something people liked, and send it to the people that matter.

oh and BTW i designed more than three, and sent it to them in a professional design sheet in PDF format...

and just to note, i used adobe illustrator and flash, boh are professional vector design tools, as used by people such as lambie nairn, so reasearch and get the facts straight before passing judgement...

So sending in your ideas would, in practice, be using an external consultant? Wink

I work designing graphics for TV, so I think I should know what software they use and what they do! Smile

Keeping in contact with people you know is the key! Smile

fair enough, but I didn't pass judgement and I didn't state any 'facts'... just gave my opinions.

Besides, as has already been pointed out, if they are being done in-house then they especially won't be interested in external submissions.

Even if they did use your ideas they would do just that, use your ideas and give you no money or credit

I'm not seeking credit or payment, just knowing i played a part in proffessional design is enough

I've done design for KNEWS the worlwide subscription network, as well as some other stuff not on air

If they're going to take external ideas, then they why would they bother to pay an in house designer if what he/she designs may be passed up in favour of some stuff that was emailed to them. Apart from anything else, there are all sorts of rights issues. They wouldn't use your designs and not credit you or pay you for them because they'd be worried that when they go to air you would sue them for using your work.

They wouldn't dream of getting it on an official level with you because that would cost money and they're allready paying an in house designer to do the job - Sky won't pay for something twice.

look, they could pass it off as their own idea, or say it appeared out of thin air for all i care.

The important thing for me is, i made a design idea, they accepted it, and they like it...

As a student designer, its the appreciation that i want, and to know they considered my idea, or even looked at it, is praise and recognition enough.
