I notice that Crimewatch Roadshow is airing at 11am next week which suggests that Morning Live is likely staying at 0915 for the foreseeable future.

I was about to make such a dumb comment about the quick turnaround of the studio then, but obviously with the "roadshow" element that won't be the case. I think it might come out of Cardiff anyway.

Actually with the need for content in primetime surprised they haven't looked at reviving the primetime editions.

They're not that desperate for content!

Morning Live has been recommissioned and will move to Salford from next January:

Quote:
Morning Live will continue to be hosted by Kym Marsh and Gethin Jones, as well as its team of experts. The news comes as part of the BBC’s wider Across The UK plans, which have been announced today (18 March 2021).

These changes mean that from 2022, BBC One’s entire live morning output from 6am through to 10am will come out of Salford, with Morning Live following BBC Breakfast, and it will be the only channel in the UK to broadcast all of its live morning output from outside of London. With the move to take place from January 2022, more details will be announced in due course.

These plans follow consistently slot-winning figures for the programme since it returned to BBC One for a second series in late January. The best performing episode for the series was on 8 February when it got 1.8m, and the weekly average consolidated figures are 1.5m - consistently the highest in its slot, up from 1.4m consolidate for the first run which aired from October to December 2020.

I wonder if morning live takes over the breakfast sofa during a commercial break?

Not that it matters so much at the moment and I suspect video interviews are here to stay post pandemic but I thought one of the strengths of Morning Live being in London would be they could pick up the guests Breakfast couldn't get up to Salford.

No surprise though it is going year round.

It might not all be political. There may be some strong practical reasons to move it to Salford - studio/crew sharing with the other live morning output potentially helping with cost for example. As with all output, there will have been a lot of factors involved in the decision to move it.

It's a no brainer to recommission and expand the show though given how well it's done. As Brekkie says, now that they've become commonplace virtual interviews are probably here to stay even post-Covid. Plus from what I've seen Morning Live seems to rely heavily on a rotation of regular experts and recurring guests, all of whom will probably be willing to make the trip up to Salford. So I don't see the location having a huge effect on the content of the show itself.

We might get a slightly nicer set, though!

I doubt that would look different enough

Maybe they could use the space that was originally meant to be for Breakfast with the canal side view?

What studios do they actually own in Salford, could they studio share with something else (I doubt they will use the third party studios that they’d have to pay for, every day)

I doubt that very much. Considering that the BBC doesn't run adverts.
