I really don't like the furniture. I like the layout and the different spaces but the chairs and rug are ugly AF

This, and too much foliage.

Just watching the show now. I agree with the poster who said the titles had a Daybreak feel to them, I thought the same when watching them. They did feel very generic but worked fine for the show.
Set wise I both love it and hate it. Some of the furniture just looks awful, mainly the chairs and that rug! It all looks too mish-mashed and its like the set designers just went to a few random shops and just selected a load of random furniture and hoped for the best when putting it all together.
I know they aren't trying to be This Morning, but they should have looked at that show for good set design. The current (and previous) TM set looks really good and works really well. With ML especially on some close shots on single presenters, you just see random items behind such as an old radio, some books, a lamp, random plants it makes it look like a charity shop.
It wouldn't take a lot to significantly improve the look though.

Gethin and Kym seemed to work well together and they seem to have a good team on the show.

I always got the impression when the show was being described, that it was going to be on for a couple of hours and be competition for This Morning so was a little shocked when I found out it was only on for 45 minutes.

For 45 minutes, it worked, hopefully they can extend the time.

I thought it was decent, could with a few tweaks but overall it was a good first show. I can see this becoming a daytime staple from next year.

Was interesting to see a bit of daytime cross promotion with Martel Maxwell from Homes Under the Hammer doing a segment about selling property.

If anything they should remove those huge One Show letters from the window if this is supposed to be a flexible space used by several different programmes.

Well indeed they’ve partially or fully hidden those large letters on many different programmes now

And in any case, isn’t The One Show due a new look, or is it going to stay exactly the same forever?

Seems to be more of a budget for new shows than updating old shows across the BBC.

Yes, The One Show has looked the same for the last thirteen years.

A new logo, titles, remixed theme and set is what is needed.

I much prefer how the set looks in their pre titles position than the main presentation area. Personally I think it would look better to swivel the whole thing around so they front the main show there - Gethin remaining on his sofa and Kim in the guest’s seat. It’s cleaner, with a much less busy background and everything seems to match a little more, plus it would minimise the backlit shots.
