Michael Aspel has a better hairstyle now than he did in the ‘80s!

He was on the Morecambe and Wise thing on BBC2 the other night too and I was amazed how well he looked, almost looked younger than when he was on TV. He had been diagnosed some sort of low level cancer last I heard.

I think that’s true of most people who were around in the 80s. Wink

And better fashion too, a class photo I featured in at school (which I don't recall having been taken but anyway) shows me in some horrible shirt made up of four different designs; it was more brash than the sort of thing Timmy Mallett would have worn on Wacaday.

So, we have had BBC Television Centre reduced to a shadow of its former self, but at least three studios remain. The London Studios is now closed and ready for demolition probably next year. Teddington Studios has also bit the dust. Fountain Studios remain for dear life, and only just. Granada's original studios in Manchester are now being reused I gather, but Dock10 studios is now the main TV hub for the northwest. What other studio complex is next for selling?

A couple of mentions that 'itv have moved to a shiny new HQ' when they haven't, and won't be anytime soon.

Some of the voice-over script was a bit odd, referring to programmes coming from there in the present tense when they ended a long time ago.

That's the problem with putting off showing it I suppose

I’m guessing it was made around the time the daytime shows stopped being made there in April, although it might not have been intended to be transmitted at that time.

That would also explain the lack of any input from Dec

I was an audience member in a few productions at the studios between 2012 and 2014, which I look back with fond memories.

The "shiny new HQ" mentioned was referring to their sublet studios at Television Centre which is considered new, as Studios 2 and 3 were refurbished and reopened in September 2017. ITV also have office space in White City and in Television Centre too, all new.

They might now consider Television Centre their new HQ.

It was a nice little tribute. I liked how Dermot said that ITV has moved to a "shiney new HQ"! 😆 I was hoping there would be an LWT endcap to wrap it up nicely, similar to Goodbye Granadaland, but I was surprised that they even included the LWT signature tune in-between the breaks!

The only shiny HQ they have now is Grays Inn Road, with their shiny office atrium look. Nothing else.

Sorry, my mistake, I was thinking more of their new home as a company as a whole (Waterhouse Square).

Waterhouse Sq is tiny. ITV Creative and Marketing, and Media Planning are based out of Gray's Inn Road.

Did anyone else get choked up watching the tribute on ITV? It was quite an emotional goodbye.

Waterhouse Square is now the registered address of ITV Plc, so is essentially their HQ. Looks very nice, if not very shiny or new (old facade, new offices). They are subletting it from a .com

As I think I've mentioned earlier in this thread the broadcasting union BECTU have pointed out what an odd situation it is for a Plc not to have an HQ:
