This new series of 5 Gold Rings was actually filmed back to back with last year's series back in Spring 2019. Unless it does better this time (which, four series in seems somewhat unlikely) I'm not sure it will return again. Particularly if The Cube gets a renewal (which given the decent rating on Saturday for the celebrity edition, but disappointing ratings so far this week for the regular editions seems 50/50 at the moment).
The 6pm slot says a lot when they're showing Tipping Point at 7pm.
As for Family Fortunes, seems like quite a fast turnaround with applications closing in a month's time. Suggests we'll be seeing it back earlier than next Autumn.
BTW Family Fortunes has been recommissioned. TBH surprised 5 Gold Rings has - it's never really waited that well.

Hey, they've done it before

I wouldn't be surprised if 5 Gold Rings got renewed not because it rated well but because if they cancelled it after series 2, ITV would have to find something else for Phil to present.

6 PM seems early for 5 Gold Rings. I would have thought the same slot has Family Fortunes at eight o'clock.

It’s a similar slot to what it got last year. It’s not strong enough for 8pm.
Last year it was at 7pm. You'd think that they might save it considering everything happening at the moment. but apparently not.
5 Gold Rings back on 1st November at 6pm.
Don’t Rock The Boat in w/c 2nd November for 5 nights at 9pm, except on the Tuesday when it’s at 9.15pm.
An episode of Spirting Image on 31st October at 10pm.

This will be series 4 of 5 Gold Rings, it can’t claim to have not had a fair shot.

I think it’s a very good gameshow, with a brilliant play along feature through the app. Unfortunately we’re in a time where new programmes don’t appear to do that well across the board, so broadcasters are relying more on old ideas, spin offs and trusty stalwarts (such as strictly and I’m A Celeb).

If you look back to the 80s and 90s there’s plenty of daytime and prime time quizzes/game shows they could bring back. Talking Telephone Numbers/Winning Lines, Crosswits, Wheel of Fortune
I can’t remember the name of it and what channel showed it but I remember back when I was at primary school on a teacher training day there was a programme that was basically Pictionary with teams sat on sofas and the BBC had a makeover style programme where people had a new hair cut and given a new outfit

Talking Telephone Numbers may have been a product of its time, and the number of people I come across who don't even know their own mobile number off the top of their head, whereas in the 1990s you always knew your landline number. Although it has been discussed on here before that the programme was far more planned than it might appear.
The Pictionary style show might have been Win Lose or Draw.

Never missed an episode of Crosswits,as I got them taped while I was at work-but the clues were a bit obscure

One clue I shall always remember from Crosswits-God save the Queen for such elegant living?
