New font being used on the Dancing on Ice website, variant of the current set, called ITV Reem (?). Evolution not revolution. Will this be the new universal font? Any official word on this?

Downloading the imbedded .woff file and converting to .otf shows it is more geometric and wider set than the current font and there are 4 weights.

The numbers in the channel logos match the bold version of that font.

Very similar to current font.

Not sure it's better...

The previous font was too, wasn't it?

Does anyone have any analysis (ahem, Martin?) from a typography perspective about the differences between the two fonts?

Reem? I suppose they are supposed to be embracing their populist side...

To me, the font is very similar to NeoSans, and takes hints from Gill Sans.

EDIT: ITV Reem is the official name of the official font - the name was apparently announced over a month ago.

Excited for launch, it's what - 2 weeks now?

It's going to be a crazy day for ITV with new identities hitting the 4 channels, major rebranding of ITV News, updating the entire website to feature the new logos/font... So much work to pull it off without a hitch, simultaneously!

The fact that it has been kept so tightly under wraps and only specific/general information has been carefully spoon fed to us makes me feel optimistic this will have been a worthwhile exercise. It feels like an Apple product launch! Okay, maybe that's just me...

Waffle aside, I really hope the new look is defining for ITV and that we, as pres fans, can be surprised by something in action - in a good way. This has been in the works for a year now (that's when we first heard about the rebrand) and it was delayed already, so it appears far more thought has gone into this than the previous efforts.

I've got a feeling we may be pleasantly surprised!

Well there's 4 weights of the current one:
ITV Regular, Light, Medium and Bold - so makes sense!
