Eh? Why would it hurt it? ITV's well known for quality drama, even if some see ITV as trashy. Don't forget ITV3's been a huge success. They've been pushing a lot of new drama recently and have aired that Drama Lives advert on various other channels so they're clearly keen on pushing that association with the brand.
I do wonder in the Sky landscape whether it might just be best off called "Encore" - could the ITV branding actually hurt the channel, especially if it aims to position itself as a quality drama channel.

I'm not sure what ITV you're talking about but it has always been synonymous with quality drama, irrelevant of the rest of its schedule, and more so now than ever before.

Not with the youngish AB audience that Sky Atlantic/ ARTS/ and some of BBC4 attracts. The last time I checked their audience breakdown, ITV3's audience was nearly as downmarket as ITV2 and significantly older.
It all depends on who the channel is aimed at. I think Brekkie has a pretty valid point if the plan is to a launch an upmarket Sky Atlantic type channel with the Sky Atlantic/HBO types being snobby about ITV. If it's just a revamped edition of ITV3 then the branding will help.

ITV3's demographics are more upmarket than ITV2 and always have been. Not only that, but ITV3 is substantially more watched than Sky Atlantic, so if ITV Encore is a more drama focused version of ITV3, it stands to do well.
I don't get why anyone would suggest attaching ITV's brand to a drama channel would instantly drive its reputation downmarket. Drama has always been where ITV has excelled, even at the top end of the demographics, and now more than ever its reputation for world class drama is clear for anyone to see.

Sky types being snobby about ITV?
There was a time that it would have been odd to think that Sky might even have an upmarket image.

It could also be similar to ITV Choice? http://tbivision.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/itv_choice_logo2.jpg

Let's hope not. The final logo will probably put a bit more emphasis on the "Encore" part.
ITV has filed an application with the IPO, but there's no picture available (at the moment). http://www.ipo.gov.uk/tmcase/Results/1/UK00003039783

I don't think they'll stray too far from the core brand.
My guesses:

Who wants to knock up a logo idea? Martin?
Probably be just like ITV News/Sport, mind.
