ITV have had the same daytime schedule - which seldom changes - for years. .........Jeremy Kyle (or Trisha before him).........,

Kyle's programme makes Trisha's show look like Newsnight or Marr in comparison !

The BBC also offers quite a lot more variety. ITV have had the same daytime schedule - which seldom changes - for years. Lorraine, Jeremy Kyle (or Trisha before him), This Morning, News, Loose Women.

Far less variety than BBC One - and actually quite a lot less factual content. (The BBC delivers shows like Helicopter Heroes, Rip Off Britain, Crimewatch Roadshow, Heir Hunters, Homes Under The Hammer etc.)

Arguably DQF has probably improved BBC1 daytime as it forced them to axe many of the shows which was basically clones of other shows they aired.

ITV used to have a bit more variety in the afternoon but they seem to be settling now on Judge Rinder, Dickinsons Real Deal and Tipping Point for much of the year. The Chase goes off air in a week for a new run of Paul O'Grady.

They're also the only broadcaster regularly committed to original drama during the day.

Yep - the afternoon drama slot is a little gem, and it's a pretty important route in to the industry for aspiring drama directors.

Could someone please explain if I'm missing something here:

She still works for Sky News, yes? If so, I can't see them being happy with promoting a competitor.

If i remember correctly, I remember seeing Kay tweeting loads during the launch of GMB

It's her personal Twitter account, is she not allowed to talk about other programmes? If she was talking about it on Sky News itself or a Sky News account you may have a point, but I don't think they can control what she talks about on her personal Twitter.

Yep. Notice it's @kayburley, and not @skykay which would be what the Sky News account Twitter handle would be.

Tweeting someone to say good luck etc would have been fine but I wouldn't be very happy if I were her boss and she was tweeting a virtual advert for a rival service.

Unless of course, Sky think having Piers hosting GMB would bring more viewers to Sunrise Wink

I seem to recall Kay was initially fairly scathing of the show, mocking how busy it all was with four presenters and lots of animating graphics (bit rich for someone at Sky News?).

I suspect if it was someone other than an Kay it wouldn't be getting commented on.

Yes she said something about needing to lie down after watching how 'busy' it was.
