I agree, it was on the wane a little bit towards Christmas, but since it has come back I've found it a lot more watchable, and there's been plenty of time given to the main News, and their coverage from Paris has also been fairly decent. Not as much time has been given to silly stuff too, the sugar free campaign as you stated has gone quiet, there was a feature this morning about old wives remedies for colds and flu, but I guess at this time of year it is to be expected.
My only gripe since they've changed the show is the timings of the Regional News and the National Weather, I liked it being at the old times, but considering they've gone back to the same times as GMTV and Daybreak it is tolerable.
Ratings won't change overnight, and I doubt they'll over take BBC Breakfast but I guess the main aims are to be a close second and a strong enough audience share.
I know BBC Breakfast is a stronger programme for News and has the full backing of BBC News, but it's a programme that bores the arse off me in the mornings, for me it doesn't have the same charm and appeal as GMB.
As for ratings, they won't change over night, but the content has been excelled this past week, and the lighter mixes are working well. Hopefully they stick to this and don't remove news any further.
