Richard is on for 12 minutes a day, Laura even less. The two of them hardly ruin the program.

People are over-analysing a little stunt to get publicity on social media/papers! Jeez. Marketing do this all the time.
Quite.
It almost feels like the equivalent of the Daily Star and/or the Di-ly Obsess plugging something happening on a Channel 5 show, when the broadcaster was still owned by Dirty Des.
Except I'm not aware of any such obvious connection between the Daily (Sieg) Heil and GMB?

Trouble is Richard's association with the show puts people off watching for two and a half hours. It's not worth the risk.

They should have left daybreak alone in 2014, it was ok, Aled and Lorraine did a good job, so did Matt and Ranvir and it didn't have 4 themes like GMB
Its not a news programme...

ITV seem to have good connections with all of the tabloids; every day a GMB, This Morning and Loose Women article appear on the tabloid websites.
I remember back in Summer 2014 when Susanna and Charlotte were pictured nearly every day leaving ITV Studios. Whether that was set up by ITV I don't know, but I don't remember it happening duringthe Daybreak or GMTV eras.

I do believe, if we TV Forumeners were in charge of ITV Breakfast, we'd come up with a programme that the public would be happy with.
No. We'd only ever come up with a programme that *we* nerds were happy with, not the 99.9% of "normal viewers".

The TVF version of GMB:
"Here's in-depth analysis of the ident we've just played, and at 8:15, we'll be telling you Charlotte's rota for the next three weeks, including EXCLUSIVE details of why she won't be turning up a week next Tuesday."
It's a real shame. Occasionally, I feel there's a hope for this programme. Then a cheap stunt like this happens.

You make a good point but I'm really intrigued whether you're right or not on that. We know that the BBC Breakfast format works. Isn't the general consensus on here that, what we want from an ITV show is pretty much the same, only more of a light hearted, human interest feel to it. Just not an overboard, celebrity focus, like what GMB have. Or am I out of touch (34), not knowing what today's youth want from a TV show...

Design by committee doesn't work
