Breakfast shows never work out in their first incarnation, so when they do a revamp its probably best to go a little ahead of BBC Breakfast so they've got time to establish themselves properly.

Except that Breakfast Time - the BBC's first Breakfast service (which launched unexpectedly before TVam in 1983) pretty much did work out on its first incarnation pretty well. It beat TVam for quite a while after they launched...

The Big Breakfast was also an instant hit, the format was so good that they returned to it every time one of their relaunches failed. RI:SE also took on much of the original BB format at the end

No. It's Lucy Watson, the Northern England reporter. She's stood in for Tasmin before.

Hmm - I have fond memories of The Channel Four Daily.

That is the only breakfast programme I ever watched every morning. It was brilliant.

I also enjoyed the Channel Four Daily. I seem to remember that it only lasted about a year.

Three and a half, in fact, April 1989 to September 1992. That said, the original concept went for a burton after the first year, it was originally made up of individual ten minute programmes with everything pre-recorded (apart from the news, natch) and in its own studio and set. But that flopped so in April 1990 they revamped it and everything now came from one studio with four desks - for news, business, sport and arts - and it was mostly all live. There were still a few pre-recorded bits in it, though, like Countdown Masters, but most of those were abandoned during the Gulf War and never came back.

do they usually do the same interviews with Lorrane, as this morning both programmes interviewed Jacqueline Gold

GMTV often did, but not sure about Daybreak. Makes sense really if the guest can stay - the viewer at 7 o'clock is not likely to be watching at 9 o'clock.

They also interviewed Michelle Heaton twice on Daybreak, so its either a guest issue or they're just starting to repeat themselve a lot more.
