Good news! Coca-Cola are showing the trucks again this year, starting on the 17th of November for two weeks only.
Is this just a good educated guess?

I'm not sure, but I think they'd need the cooperation of other European countries if they really wanted to make a new advert. For example Scary Santa is shown in most countries, and the 'clear bottle' campaign has been running right across Europe this year too, so they obviously collaborate on all their advertising and marketing.
The tour runs in Germany every year and the trucks also travel across Belgium, Austria and the Czech Republic.
Definitely. Very few modern Christmas adverts, songs, films etc. come close to the ones from the 80s and early 90s in my opinion. The media nowadays is so transparent - we know how it all works, we know how it's done - and the magic is lost.
Is this just a good educated guess?
No, it's from the horse's mouth.

I suppose it does make sense with the words 'holidays are coming' in the trucks advert, but the trucks has that Christmas magic. I'd still love it if Coca Cola UK had the money and the balls to get together coca cola trucks and shoot a UK version, making sure that it's high def to future proof it. And they could also advertise it as the trucks tour. Didn't they do this in Germany one year?

I know that it must be a British thing, but tradition lies in our Christmas. We still play songs from many years ago, every year, most families do the same every year, play the same games and visit the same people at the same points in the day, and we like the tradition of the advertisers, in a way I suppose it creates Christmas through past memories of Christmas.

Thank God. I hated that sinister Santa!! Now all they need to do is bring back the Toys R Us ad and then I can get out the mulled one.

Correct. Same again this year as well.
Here's a nice 'making of' article about the truck adverts. The animation effects were done by a division of Lucas Films, the company that did Star Wars.

Didnt the trucks air in late November last year too, then Sinister Santa?

It's good but not good enough in my opinion but then again maybe we like to be spoilt with tradition.
I'm surprised Scrooge doesn't advertise Coca Cola this year what with the economic crisis.
As mentioned before, anyone know when the BBC's Winter Press Pack is out? Or previews..?

I think ILM is able to stand on its own credentials, without being propped up by the mysterious Lucas Films (sic) and those low-key Star Wars movies that were quietly shat out one evening.

Has anybody got any rough schedule ideas for over Christmas?
Each year I keep hoping we get classic repeats of old classics such as Flash Gordon but it never happens. Here's hoping the BBC treat us to some classic comedy this xmas with Laurel and Hardy double bills every morning, a L&H season is way overdue.
