They do it the other way round now. Last year they started running the trucks advert on the 18th of November, which was then replaced by the new Scary Santa advert from the 1st of December onwards.

That's far too early. They always used to reserve them for much nearer Christmas itself, with their newer campaigns running beforehand.

I suppose it does make sense with the words 'holidays are coming' in the trucks advert, but the trucks has that Christmas magic. I'd still love it if Coca Cola UK had the money and the balls to get together coca cola trucks and shoot a UK version, making sure that it's high def to future proof it. And they could also advertise it as the trucks tour. Didn't they do this in Germany one year?
I know that it must be a British thing, but tradition lies in our Christmas. We still play songs from many years ago, every year, most families do the same every year, play the same games and visit the same people at the same points in the day, and we like the tradition of the advertisers, in a way I suppose it creates Christmas through past memories of Christmas.

When are the Christmas schedules going to be announced?
No more scary Santa ads please Coca Cola. Bring back Holidays Are Coming!
Some of you might be too old to remember this, but another thing that made you feel Christmas had arrived was the double issue TV Times & Radio Times.
You had to get both to see what was on BBC and ITV, then you'd go through them both and ring the films and shows you wanted to watch. Oh to be young again!

In the days when it felt like they made an effort at Christmas. There generally used to be something worth seeing on most nights over the period - and different to the norm too - but nowadays apart from a few hours on Christmas Day there's very little "special" about the Christmas schedules.
I think another issue there is the growth of the "Celebrity Special" outside of the festive period - a decade ago Christmas would be the only time you'd see something like Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire - now they're on more often than the regular editions.

It used to be a real badge of honour to get a Christmas special and now just about EVERY single show gets one.
