I don't hate the ad, but the immediate thing which comes to mind is that Sausage Roll Crisps and Christmas are a bit of an awkward fit. I think the new flavour would have made more of a buzz in the new year without all the other distractions of Christmas. It makes me wonder whether the launch was due earlier in the year but got delayed due to Covid.

I also agree with Phil that this Christmas advert is nowhere near as bad as the previous in the campaign, now that they've transitioned away from the "fan made" conceit.

Yeh, that approach just doesn't work does it. Quite an embarrassingly poor execution from such a major ad agency.

Seems likely - I would've expected last year's Christmas flavours to return, they were much more Christmassy. Turkey and Stuffing, Brussels Sprouts, Pigs in Blankets, Glazed Ham, and Cheese and Cranberry. Sausage rolls are picnic food, something more appropriate to summer.

I think most people would be disturbed by Sunny's rather odd obsession with a supermarket wouldn't they? The guy needs help.

I like the Walkers Christmas ad although I don’t think it’s as good as the Mariah Carey one they did last year.

Well they've linked it with last year's Christmas Number One, and sausage rolls at Christmas are definitely a thing (cf. Morrisons and their yearly Christmassy sausage rolls). They also managed to launch a range of branded flavour collaborations with various food outlets during the current situation - I don't think this is a result of it being a pushed back flavour.

In shock of the year, Aldi have another marketable character on their hands.

That would have been the third year of these flavours.

Walkers had a bunch of new flavours mid year linked to restaurants that was supposed to give you money off in those restaurants, but they came out during the first lockdown. As Bilky said, it links with the recent Christmas number ones from Lad Baby, so doubt its postponed flavour

"Pocket tap four times" 🤷‍♂️

Although the subtitles say ‘Pocket tap for our times’. Which to be fair still doesn’t make sense.

Well that was certainly no Mariah.
