I can't believe everything in October, maybe the end of October, middle of November. If only more people made a fuss of Halloween and Bonfire Night!
"This week, half price on eggs and flour. Somerfields, Somerthing different."
True. But every supermarket is selling halloween merchandise, and I've only seen Asda advertise it.
Plus the majority sell fireworks, they could advertise their ranges and ranges for foods, and merchandising more.
Back to christmas adverts.
I saw one for Woolworths this morning, they're not exactly festive, but they are sort of to do with christmas.
It's basically Worth has bought christmas stuff using the new woolworths christmas gift guide, and put it into a cupboard that Woolie opens, and then says that he leaves all of his until Christmas Eve, and then they dance to their usual music with the signs in their hands.
Hopefully this will just be the catalogue, which isn't a bad idea to say that they're seeling christmas things, but not do festive adverts.
As for Sainsburys, in today's Daily Mirror, they had an article titled Sainsburried (see here).
It basically was on about the profits down for sainsburys, which doesn't surprise me. But also says that Sainsburys are launching their Christmas Ad Campaign... about Salmon! And as one industry insider says they have lost the plot.
I doubt every christmas advert will be about Salmon, though then again!
Last years were very nice with Jamie going to Sainsbury's through the snow, and then the ones with the toys around the tree for Sainsburys To You, but Salmon!!
With the Wollworths ads- is there any connection between them and the people that did Bro & Bro (What's Up Doc/Wolf it)? I doubt I'm the only one that can see some similarities.

Hmm. They aren't the same voices (who then went onto do the Leprecauns on Live & Kicking), though I suppose that they could be made by the same company.
In the third break of Property Ladder on Channel 4, the Christmas advert for WHSmith featuring (as mentioned) the book worm, card worm, DVD worm and Music worm (could have been more).

And complete with the voice of Fearne Cotton.
It was also shown during Coronation Street, it doesn't look thrilling, it looks more annoying than anything, but good animation though. TBH I don't think it is going to help WHSmith's financial troubles.
I don't see any reason why they can't bring back Nicholas Lindhurst when he played that family.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about them, very good acting, or if not Nicholas Lyndhurst, someone else doing the same.
- Woolies have Wooly and Worth doing a stage routine to "Winter Wonderland", reminds me a bit of the old 1980s ads with famous cameos
- ASDA have Julie Walters as the Christmas fairy again, I saw one of the ads this morning on Yorkshire
- Argos have Richard E Grant and Julia Sawahla and the ads seem to be in EVERY break
- Sainsbury's DON'T have Jamie Oliver!!! But they have some woman/actress who is a Sainsbury's buyer, the final scene shows her house with a big inflatable snowman on the roof, very dodgy by Sainsbury's standards, almost as bad as the John Cleese campaign
- Matalan have an interesting ad, different to last year as well, with a female Santa Claus driving a pick up truck, not too in-your-face festive, as she drives lights go on so it's also a rip-off of THAT Coca-Cola ad
They are the main ones getting airtime at the moment.
