The best christmas ads so far have to be 'currys' it's becoming ridiculous - we still have linda and the currys lady (anyone know who she is) It ends with a 'darkness' style band playing 'always cutting prices' with linda and currys lady playing air guitar!

I'm also liking the Dixons ad - the future for less! lol

Interestingly, the WHSmith worms aren't animated. They're puppets working by humans dressed totally in blue against a blue screen. They simply grab hold of the worms and work them, no strings, no sticks. Clever stuff.

Utterly **** adverts though.

I had assumed that Linda's contract with Currys had ended, seeing as she had been replaced in the last couple of ads with that new bloke. I get the feeling that maybe this Christmas ad was recorded before her contract ended.

Strange that they seem to have changed the slogan/jingle though - it's now "always lowering prices", which sounds even worse!

Robert Dyas know its nearly Christmas. 'Lets just bung some snowflakes on a green background' Laughing

Debenhams have brought back Santa Baby - I was right about that.

Why have DFS suddenly ditched Mud's Lonely This Christmas in favour of Dream Dream Dream?

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about them, very good acting, or if not Nicholas Lyndhurst, someone else doing the same.

I think we iz tryin to appeal 2 da yoofs who r more likely 2 go to Vrgn (heeheehee) for their CDs and DVDs. Nick Lyndhurst's family ads, although good, are very Oxo and therefore mumsy.

Course we used to own half of Virgin and half of Waterstones but they sold it off and now they are the big rivals..... When will management learn?

Tesco can't ditch Prunella though, she's legendary. The product on white adverts are too "Value" for my liking and with the whole Safeway situation and Sainbury's being so useless and Middle Class supermarket is really needed at the moment.

I presume that everyone's already noticed, but if you haven't Toys 'R' Us are advertising, it seems earlier than usual, but it's still the same where the store flies through space.

It's a shame that they can't use the cartoon one with Geofrey the Giraffe, I wonder why they got rid of him. It was a sad day when he was removed off the front of our local store.

It's also very wierd that the Toys 'R' Us advert is never Christmassy in any way, but it reminds so many people as it's the only time that it's aired, and aimed at that pre Christmas Toy rush.

On another Christmas Related note; Colin & Edith have started a petition that they're hoping to hand over to Tony Blair, asking for a ban on all thing's Christmas, adverts, music in shops, and decorations in shops until December 1st, that I agree with. I've signed it, will you.

See the petition by clicking the link on their page, here.

I love the Asda Christmas Ad, are they trying to make Julie walters a regular - to get on tescos nerves? Smile
That would be intresting to see!

Also the Woolworths ads are better than I thought - The characters are a bit strange.

slightly off topic - any one else notice alot of introspective or psychological ads about- where there is another character representing the psyche or emotions of the main character.
Some examples:
Cadburys - My Happyness
" Mini Rolls - Innter Child
Abbey - Me and My Money
Cup a Soup - Hug in a Mug
National Literacy Advert - Gremlins

I notice they've changed the Mr Frosty advert, the last one went on for what seemed like years. By 2003 the picture looked really washed out and blurred...this year the tape probably snapped or something. Those kids must be about 60 now. Ah well, all together now- "Mr Frosty is such fun, he makes treats for everyone..."

There's another version of "Always lowering prices" with a load of cheerful Santas and Linda and the woman hugging one of them - less irritating than the fake Darkness one but somehow manages to stick in my head all day Smile

I quite like thee Darkness style ending, but it's thee fact that the rest of the advert uses the tune of 'Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow', it's just a harsh contrast! Either have it all to Let it snow,Let it snow,Let it snow, or do it all in a rock style.

I think it's because the 'Everyone's a winner' song fitted well with "Curry's, always cutting prices!", so they tried it.

And I can only think that they've changed it to lowering so that we don't have Linda's fingers!
