This actually looks quite nice as the final design . . . after the courtyard is filled-in, and the green wall relocated.

I had always thought the TVam letters were listed, which is why they were originally covered up by disks. They seem to have been either removed or hidden completely in the new design.

Really don't think the home of an 80s breakfast franchise can be considered historically significant. If they can tear down Granada Studios and half of TV Centre they can certainly remove some lettering from a building in Camden.

I think some people wanted it saved because it was an early example of post-modern architecture.

The bit at the back is listed facing the canal if that's what you mean. The street side was never listed.

Thanks Lester. I knew something was listed. Very Happy

Sorry, I just checked, the canal area around the back is 'conservation area' but I don't think it's listed. They wouldn't extend on the back due to the way the roof is hipped. Sorry I got it wrong! Oops!

That was the excuse they used for not allowing the demolition of Plymouth's dreadful 1960s council headquarters monstrosity a couple of years ago.

Amazingly, it was allowed to be listed. I suspect someone was on a controlled substance when they passed that one! Shocked

That looks more like brutalist architecture to me? The typical 60s/70s office building - like Granada in Quay Street.

What building is MTV News recorded in?

I believe MTV News is produced by an independent production company called Remedy Productions so am not sure whether it's produced in thus building.

Wouldn't MTV News come from a cupboard studio/presentation area formally used by TV-am?

Talking of which. I guess the main Good Morning Britain studio, has long since been converted into office space?

MTV News was recorded in-house until last year, but has now moved to Remedy along with many of the presenter-fronted charts for the MTV music channels.

There is a tiny studio left at Camden which is home to C5's MIlkshake continuity, since they moved from Northern & Shell, so live breakfast TV is once again coming from Hawley Crescent. All other studios were turned in to office space.

Viacom are also renting the building next door (Elephant House) for additional office space.
Hatton Cross, London Lite and VMPhil gave kudos

I wonder if they will time the new look with the launch of The X Files? They did that in 2008 when they launched a new launch at 9pm just before Paul Merton in India.
