More late changes to BT Sport schedule, they have decided to show the WTA Elite Trophy where Johanna Konta is competing, starting tomorrow.

Don't think it's been mentioned here yet that BT Sport's cricket coverage starts in the early hours of Thursday morning with Australia v South Africa. It's going be Channel 7's match coverage, with studio presentation by Greg James, and punditry by Michael Vaughan, Graeme Swann, Kevin Pietersen and Ricky Ponting. More details.

Channel 9 not 7. But yes it will be interesting to see, sounds like they are making more effort than Sky have with their non-England cricket coverage over the past 2 years.

A reminder there are more ICC rights on offer soon and a potential recast of home rights is being talked about. BT will be very interested in picking up some of them. Doing this deal justice will help prepping for these contests when they're launched.

BT Sport have got the rights to show Ireland's one-off rugby union test v New Zealand on Saturday at 8:00pm on BT Sport 2. It'll also be shown in Ireland on Eir Sport 2 (part of the same subscription of course) in the Republic of Ireland, taking Premier Sports off air on Saturday evening in the process.

(Worth nothing that on the Sky EPG BT Sport 2 has a better channel position than Eir Sport 2, which might hit the ratings).

The game is a one off in Solider Field, Chicago, and the rights have been sold separate to the regular "Guinness Series" of home Autumn internationals, which will be on RTÉ and Sky Sports in what is the penultimate year of that particular contract.

Eh? Sounds like BT will be doing the Australian test matches like Sky did.

Channel 9 coverage, and back to London during the lunch/tea breaks for the talking heads.
Only change to Sky is if maybe if BT have a reporter at the ground for additional 'fluff'.

Anyone know if the Australian domestic T20 is part of the deal, or is it only for Australia International matches?

Couldn't Eir just buy Premier Sports, rebranding it to something like Eir Sport Ireland, and bundle it with BT Sport channels?

I am not sure why they didn't when they had the opportunity - although I suspect there is some sort of non-compete clause in their agreement with BT that stops them from doing so.

Either way, for the present, and despite their separate ownership, Eir Sport 2 (owned by Eir) and Premier Sports (owned by Michael O'Rourke) continue to run as one single service.

And why would they want to? It's doing the job in Ireland that BT Sport is doing for BT in the U.K.

When will BT realise that big studios just come across on screen as tiny presenters.

Ok, so occasional BT Sport studio pres during between over change of ends, but throwing in ad or promos during every one is hard work for the viewer.

At least Sky didn't, and just took the Ch9 locked off 'beauty' shot and ambient crowd fx every now and then. Gave you a 30-40secs break just to enjoy the atmosphere.
