The big studio does mean there's space for some nets - and, at the 8-minute mark, some AR graphics...

From what I've seen so far think they've done a pretty decent effort. Yes people look like matchsticks in the wide shots (too wide!) but, think they've turned up the zone to 11 in their big studio.

I know I'm a little strange, woke at 0200 this morning, so rather than turning over and nodding off, watched some of this. Greg hosted well and handled a failure of the in-house graphics during the build up to the toss and the start well despite a quick look of horror.

Big-time boxing is on its way to BT Sport following a ground-breaking deal with BoxNation.

From January 2017, the UK’s only full-time boxing TV station will be included for all customers with BT Sport Pack at no extra cost.

As part of the deal there will also be a minimum of 20 Saturday Fight Nights a year on BT Sport 1, BTSport.com and the BT Sport app, including world, European and Commonwealth title fights.

I wonder if a name change will come...

Interesting. I've been wondering if BT Sport would do something like this and enter into a partnership with a single-sports channel. Initially, I thought Motors TV would be a prime contender, given their (presumably still) shaky finances and they would provide a fair amount of content.

Obviously, though, BT are keen to position themselves very much as a premium product though, so Box Nation fits the bill very nicely.

I understand that bidding is about to start on the European Broadcasters section of the UEFA 2018-21 Club Competitions CL/EL rights.

Expect speculation to rise imminently. Italian broadcasters are already at least in pre-bid discussions.

Here in the UK - suspect Sky probably can't afford to get the Champions League rights back - unless they sub-licence more of the live game rights to a FTA broadcaster (like ITV) than the previous deal.

So, it's all back to BT Sport. Although suspect UEFA won't like them dumping games on BT Showcase as the FTA channel like they do on the current deal - it makes more sense for UEFA to request a more 'well known' channel to show the weekly live game.

Unless of course, Discovery Eurosport are lining up another 'knock yer socks off' deal..

What about a joint deal, with BT Sport and Discovery eurosport mounting a joint bid?

I wonder whether UEFA will take into consideration the smaller audience and profile the Champions League has now. BT does a good job of coverage but the big games don't get a fraction of what they got on ITV.

I suppose UEFA could insist in the new deal that the 1 FTA match per week is better promoted, or to has to be on a PSB channel whoever wins.

I'd imagine that UEFA would want to have a PSB channel take up some of the matches. The Champions League sadly has had a diminished audience ever since BT took control of the rights. Even worse, they are late in providing information if a match is on the Showcase channel.
