Disagree with this - I think Joel helped pull Blue Peter out of the doldrums ( as much as he could! )
Seems an odd time to be leaving the programme, I thought they would have waited until after Christmas.
Not a great loss in my view, but I wonder if the timing, is to stager any further departures of presenters that do not want to move to Manchester next summer?

I agree. These past 2 and half years of consistency have really helped BP. It's A shame the presenting team is changing, they are very strong IMO.
Now we'll have both a dog and a presenter with the same name!

Barney Harwood joins Blue Peter
Blue Peter is delighted to announce that popular CBBC face Barney Harwood is joining the flagship programme as its 35th presenter.
Barney will join current presenters Andy Akinwolere and Helen Skelton in the studio on Monday 17 January. The announcement was made in today’s programme when Barney broke off from rehearsals for Peter Pan, the pantomime he's appearing in this Christmas, to tell viewers that he'd be joining the show in the New Year.
