I also hope that they look at the programme and look at the way, especially studio presentation is done. As far as I could see from the few films of last series that I saw, they hadn't changed that much.

I still think that Andy talks down to kids quite a bit, perhaps its just how he comes across to me.

As for the production of the show. They obviously did what they did to try and update the programme, but as they shownt when they relaunched in 1999, to update the show doesn't mean to take away everything that the show was known for, and to try to change it to link up with today's viewers.

If you actually look at children and teenagers nowadays, they act exactly the same as they have done for years. There's no need to change a programme when the audience hasn't changed.

They are trying to aim for a younger audience though.

I notice there is a special Olympic edition on Thursday in which "the team" preview the games.

According to the, cough, Sun TV Guide, this will feature Gethin, Zoe and Andy. I wonder if most of it will be repeats of the films Gethin and Andy made in China the other month.

Oh, the expedition's to Alaska, by the way.

Incidentally, anyone else getting a 'Show the tools panel' link on the very bottom of the page?

To be fair, the theme before the present one was great as well, and I think the 98-02 one was, for some reason, a bit cheesy. Don't ask me why.

Anyway, I think there's a general consensus that the present version has to go.

I agree the version before the present version was good. Maybe they should remix Mike Oldfield's version? Very Happy

I've always liked the idea of remixing it in the style of Tubular Bells . Or Linkin Park, see how the traditionalists would like that.

There was a certain familiarity about the 1999-2004 theme music and studio/graphics package that linked nicely with the consistent 4 presenters of the period. I really liked the 2004-2006 theme too - very Mike Oldfield-esque.

I hope that they have now satisfied the "Music Makers" kids who appear to have kicked up a bit of a fuss that their version wasn't used on screen by using it for a series, but now is the time to revamp the titles, theme and even the word mark, because the Blue Peter type has been around since the 1999 revamp too.
